Cadbury Dairy Milk with Ritz Crackers & LU Biscuits Review
Last year I reviewed the Milka with TUC Crackers and LU Cookies bars, and rather enjoyed them. Since Mondelez are now bringing most of their Milka variations to the UK under the Dairy Milk brand (Oreo, D'aim, etc) it didn't surprise me much when they announced the launch of these.
Unlike the Milka versions these only come in small 35g bars, each containing 4 squares of Dairy Milk embedded with either LU biscuits or Ritz crackers. Presumably Mondelez went for Ritz rather than TUC crackers as they're more popular in the UK.

Overall, these are two delicious bars that no doubt many people will enjoy. They're as good, if not better than the Milka versions, but will they catch on with the Great British Public? That's the real question, and I'll be very interested to see how long they stick around.
If you've tried these please let me know your thoughts in the comments! Also I'd love to hear from anyone who's tried the Milka versions - how do you think these compare?
Price: 50p per 35g bar at Morrisons.
Suitable for vegetarians?: Yes.
Allergy Information: Contains milk, wheat, gluten, soya, barley, sulphites. May contain nuts, egg and sesame seeds.
Nutrition (per bar): Dairy Milk with Ritz - 183 Calories, 10g Fat, 17g Sugar.
Dairy Milk with LU Biscuits: 180 Calories, 9.3g Fat, 16.5g Sugar.
I'll def try these when I see them. How do the LU biscuit ones compare with Bahlsen's mighty Choco Leibniz, I imagine they are similiar?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I've tried those Choco Liebniz so I can't really say...I'll have to look out for them!
DeleteChoco Liebniz is the KING of biscuits.

Suggest the Milk Chocolate as the definitive variety, usually about £1.65 for box of 9. Quite expensive but Sainsbury's currently have them at £1 a box. http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/groceries/index.jsp?bmUID=1392179266848
DeleteA must-try for a biscuit lover in my opinion.
Better than Liebniz
DeleteKev you must try Bahlsen - their Choco Liebnitz are the crème de la crème but extremely expensive - the Cadbury Lu combo is sweeter, but very tasty and not so damaging to the figure as you don't end up eating 9 of them in one go... A much cheaper, and must-try substitute for Bahlsen is Lidl's equivalent milk and dark versions.
DeleteThe Ritz ones are amazing! I am a massive fan of ritz crackers and of dairy milk so the two together are like the perfect snack.
Deletethe dairy milk with lu are lovely and sweet...the cadbury shop in gunwharf quays sells them for 40 pence each ..a good value snack

Just had a packet on the ones with Ritz, I quite enjoyed them. Thanks for the tip off.
ReplyDeleteI bought these from Tesco Express in the Strand last night. While the Ritz crackers are too salty for my tastes, I agree the Lu biscuits were pleasantly sweet with a malty hint. I'll definitely buy the Lu one again but not the Ritz.
ReplyDeleteThe lu dairy milk biscuit variety go perfectly with a cuppa. Might try the Ritz although might be a bit salty if the standalone cracker product is anything to go by. Will definitely get the lu ones again if I see them.
ReplyDeleteI found the Ritz disappointing as the chocolate to biscuit ratio is far too much in favour of the chocolate to make the biscuit pointless. The chocolate is great obviously and I would like to try one with more biscuit but don't think it would work..
ReplyDeleteI agree, definitely needs more Ritz cracker to work properly.
DeleteJust had the lu one, it was nice, i cud taste a coconut taste from the biscuit, don't think it will be my 1st choice of choc bar in the future though
ReplyDeleteJust got these and very disappointed not enough biscuits in them won't be buying them again
ReplyDeleteI loved the old dairymilk biscuit. And the lu one defo taste like it. There really nice. At asda £1 for 3 bars atm. In a multi pack. These r yumy just need to be bigger hehe

ReplyDeleteMy first response on seeing the advert was "What the hell is a LU biscuit?" seems an odd marketing choice for the UK. Having tried them I would like to try the biscuit on it's own, but where to get them from?
ReplyDeleteThey're a French brand. I did a quick google and it seems you can buy their biscuits from this website:

Thanks for that just odd they picked something you can't buy alongside their own product

ReplyDeleteThoroughly enjoyed the lu version, find them very moreish Indeed. Not quite tempted to go for the ritz biscuit even though I am a huge fan of ritz biscuits on their own. Just can't imagine the saltiness of them complimenting the chocolate at the right ratio for my palette.
ReplyDeleteThe product is nice but the packaging is ridiculously hard to open
ReplyDeleteagree the foil is very thick and had to bite with my teeth to open
Deletenot ideal for kids
You're doing it wrong! There's a yellow arrow that says "Peel here", and the wrapper peels open nice and cleanly.
DeleteI tried the Ritz ones a couple of weeks ago but wasn't sure about them at the time. I've just tried the LU ones and although I finished all 3 bars the Ritz are definitely my favourite. They are pretty expensive at £1.50 for 3x35g bars when you could get a large bar of Dairy Milk for £1.50, but these are much more interesting.
ReplyDeleteFarmfoods are selling 4 multi-packs of 3 for £1. So that's 12 for only a quid. Bargain!
