Tesco Rhubarb & Custard Creams Review

Image
If you haven't heard by now, Tesco are selling Rhubarb and Custard creams, hurrah! I first posted about these on Instagram over the weekend and it seems it's quite newsworthy indeed...even the Daily Mail mentioned them ;) It is of course very exciting news, and it's rather baffling how no company ever thought of trying such a flavour before now? I mean it just makes logical sense...custard cream, rhubarb and custard...perfect marriage right? Well we now live in age where every mashup possible seems to exist, so it seems like the right time for them to be introduced. Of course, Hill Biscuits have been making various flavoured biscuit creams for years now, from Digestive Creams to Orange, Strawberry and even Chocolate Orange...but that's another story. These Rhubarb and Custard Creams cost 40p for 150g in Tesco and are described as a "Sandwich biscuit with a rhubarb flavour filling. Rhubarb and Custard creams are Crunchy and Fruity, carefully baked to a classi...

The Co Op Rhubarb & Custard Milk (Limited Edition)

Image
I'm always a sucker for a limited edition, and when I spotted this Co Op Rhubarb and Custard Limited Edition milk over Easter, straight into my basket it went! I've always enjoyed rhubarb and custard so putting it in milk form seems quite the logical next step, although it's not something I've ever seen done before. This cost £1.29, is suitable for vegetarians and gluten free. There's some "Amoosing jokes" on the carton, such as "Where did the rhubarb get its hair cut? The rhu-barbers". Eye rolls ahoy! There's also rhubarb facts such as "In the wild rhubarb can reach 6 to 10 feet in height". Educational too, thanks Co Op! Onto the most important thing then...how does it taste? Well, I was expecting it to be artificial but it actually tasted lovely and fresh! The flavour was very realistic in tasting of both rhubarb and custard in equal measure, with the thick texture of the milk making it even more reminiscent of custard. This...

Nelleulla White Chocolate Rhubarb Strawberry Bar

Image
I'm lucky to have a Fenwicks store nearby, they do some pretty interesting and unique chocolate bars you'd never see anywhere else...such as this Compartes Chocolatier Let Them Eat Cake Bar (reviewed by Lot-O-Choc), Donuts & Coffee , The Chocolate Smiths range, plus many other artisan bars. Trouble is, they all cost a small fortune! Sometimes though they reduce the price when they're close to the sell by date...and it was just by chance that I popped in one day when these Nelleulla Rhubarb Strawberry bars were reduced to £1.50 (they're usually around £5!) I snapped one up immediately!  The bar is quite elaborately packaged...it comes in triangular cardboard sleeves as well as plastic wrap and a cardboard tray. The tag line is "Chocolate from the forest" and the bar comprises of white chocolate with dried rhubarb and strawberry, topped with rhubarb and strawberry pieces. Apparently "The Northern maidens harvest them and set them in white ...
