The Grown Up Chocolate Company Nuts! Oh Hazelnuts! Bar

Image
Following my review of the Grown Up Fruit & Nut in milk chocolate , today's review is for their Nuts! Oh, Hazelnuts! A bar containing, you guessed it...nuts! This is essentially their version of a Cadbury's Wholenut, but one just for grown ups of course! Opening the foil wrapper, the chocolate smelled very inviting, with the whole hazelnuts clearly visible embedded in the bar. They looked very plentiful indeed! And what a delight they were! They tasted super fresh and go perfectly with the creamy, good quality milk chocolate which is a whopping 38% cocoa solids. It's creamy whilst being rich and satisfying, with the nuts being the icing on the cake quite literally. Overall, this is another fantastic bar from The Grown Up Chocolate Company, although I have to say I did prefer the Fruit and Nut Bar just because of the variety of tastes and textures on offer there, but this is definitely one for the hazelnut lovers. The Grown Up Chocolate Company Fruit & Nut Milk Chocolate

Image
If you've never heard of the Grown Up Chocolate Company before allow me to introduce you. They produce a range of "grown up" chocolates that are aimed more at adults than children and have a variety of bars based on classics, but with an indulgent twist. For example they have their own versions of Bounty, Snickers and even Twix! They've recently branched out into solid slabs with a variety of fillings, such as Dark Chocolate with Salted Caramel , Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuts and today's review which is Fruit and Nut in Milk Chocolate. How does this differ from regular fruit and nut chocolate bars? Well instead of just raisins and almonds it contains apricots and cranberries as well as almonds and hazelnuts, which is pretty unique for a fruit and nut bar! Opening the foil wrapper the fruit and nuts were clearly visible on the underside of the bar and looked very plentiful. This bar was certainly jam-packed with fruit and nuts, as you can see above the cr...

Grown Up Chocoate Company Sea Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate

Image
Today's review is from The Grown Up Chocolate Company, who I have featured several times with their interesting and unconventional bars (check out my Mince Pie Bar review!). They kindly offered me a sample of this new Sea Salt Caramel in Dark Chocolate Bar, so of course I couldn't say no! Their bars are handmade with quality ingredients, and this one in particular contains a very high 70% cocoa solids - it's not often you get such high cocoa dark chocolate paired with caramel, especially salted caramel! The bars weigh 100g and are available from www.thegrownupchocolatecompany.co.uk . Since these are supposed to be for grown ups only it's recommended to keep them away from the kids! Opening the foil wrapper (always a good thing), the bar was in a nice chunky square block format. A little caramel was oozing through a crack in one of the squares, and it smelled lovely! The dark chocolate had a nice rich aroma.     I tried to cut a piece in half to get a shot o...

The Grown Up Chocolate Company Festive Fig & Port Milk Chocolate

Image
As well as the Magnifient Mince Pie Milk Chocolate bar, The Grown Up Chocolate Company also sent me this Festive Fig & Port Milk Chocolate to review recently. I'm not the greatest fan of figs so I wasn't sure what to expect from them mixed with milk chocolate and port. But nevertheless chocolate is chocolate and I'm always game to eat it! Described as "sweet and juicy festive figs drenched in lashings of port, encased in luxurious milk chocolate", these cost £2.95 per 100g bar and are available from The Grown Up Chocolate Comapnies website and selected stores: www.thegrownupchocolatecompany.co.uk . Like the Magnificent Mince Pie Bar, this comes wrapped in gold foil as well as a paper wrapper, making it look super special. I do love foil wrapped chocolates - they're becoming a thing of the past and it's a real shame! The chocolate block is pretty thick to contain the fruit filling. Splitting it apart, there were bits of fig sticking out f...

Grown Up Chocolate Company Magnificent Mince Pie Milk Chocolate

Image
A big thankyou to The Grown Up Chocolate Company for today's post, who kindly offered me some of their Christmas chocolate bars to review. I was originally going to be sent a "Make Your Own Bar" voucher but these had run out so festive choccies it was! Not that I'm complaining - I've been wanting to try this Mince Pie Bar since I first heard about it, but have never been able to find it in shops. You can however get it from The Grown Up Chocolate Companies website: www.thegrownupchocolatecompany.co.uk Described as "Luxury pieces of magnificent mince pie filling packed into the dreamiest milk chocolate bar", this costs £2.95 for 100g. It is paper and gold foil wrapped, making it feel uber-special. I was pleased to see there was no wheat flour in the recipe as the mince pie filling is purely mincemeat and not pastry. Woohoo! That said, it "may" contain cereals containing gluten according to the warning on the wrapper, presumably as it'...

The Grown Up Chocolate Company Fruit & Nut Hunky Dory

Image
Today's review comes courtesy of The Grown Up Chocolate Company, who kindly sent me some of their bars for review recently. The Grown Up Chocolate Co are a small company producing hand-made luxury chocolate bars in small batches using only quality ingredients. They set up their business in 2011 and have grown in popularity ever since. For more info do check out their website here:  http://www.thegrownupchocolatecompany.co.uk/about/ The idea behind Grown Up Chocolate Bars is that they're reminiscent of the chocolate bars we ate as children, but with an adult twist. I think they've certainly succeeded - all their bars are like much higher quality versions of a lot of mainstream chocolate bars, for example they do a coconut bar that is similar to a Bounty bar, but is much nicer. Today's review is for their Fruit & Nut Hunky Dory. Firstly I have to comment on the packaging; the design is very quirky and..."different". I've never seen a...
