Alpro Dessert Moments: Coconut Review

Image
After trying the Alpro Dessert Moments Hazelnut Chocolate and Almond Vanilla , there was only one left for me to track down...the elusive coconut! For some reason Tesco only just got this in a week after the Almond Vanilla variety, so I snapped one up as soon as I could. This is available in the revamped chilled Free From section in Tesco, or at least it is in my local one. It's suitable for vegans, gluten free and nut free, and contains 30% less sugars than standard dairy based chilled desserts. They cost £2 for 4 pots. Like the other desserts these are made with hulled soya beans, various thickeners and also 5.3% coconut milk. They had the texture of cold custard - never a bad thing - and a mild but pleasant coconut aroma. I was a little worried these might have the same unusual soya flavour as the Almond Vanilla variety but luckily, the addition of coconut milk seems to have balanced it out. These have a pleasant creamy coconut flavour that is very nice, maybe...

Alpro Dessert Moments: Almond Vanilla

After trying the new Alpro Dessert Moments: Hazelnut Chocolate I was excited to try the other varieties in the range; rumour has it there's a Coconut one which I haven't been able to find yet, but luckily I did spot this Almond Vanilla version in Tesco over the weekend. Opening the lid, they looked a bit like cold custard, with a gloopy thick texture. I can't say that's a bad thing! These tasted a bit different from the Hazelnut Chocolate variety, the flavour of the soya beans is more noticeable here and has a slightly odd taste. The vanilla is nice, and the almonds bring a f...

I'm not often one for chilled desserts, however when I heard about this new soya-based vegan Chocolate Hazenut dessert from Alpro I just had to give it a try. I love vegan desserts as I find they're often lighter on the stomach than dairy-based desserts, and anything with chocolate and hazelnut in is a winner! These are also gluten free, low in fat and contain 30% less sugar than standard dairy desserts of this type, thanks to the hazelnuts being full of flavour. Here's the ingredients list: They cost £2 for 4 pots in Morrisons, which is pretty reasonable. They were in the chilled section with the other Alpro yogurts, although this was the last pack on the shelf. Must be popular! Peeling off the lid revealed a gloopy looking dessert. I would usually complain about it, but knowing that it lacked the horrible gelatine regular desserts like this contain, I don't mind at all! Taking a spoonful, I first noticed the texture...it's gloopy but strangely ...
