Carte D'or Gelateria Blueberry Ice Cream

Image
Tesco are doing a special offer on the Carte D'or ice cream range at the moment, and one that really piqued my interest was this new "Gelateria Blueberry" variety. Blueberry isn't a flavour you often see paired with ice cream so it sounded just a little bit unique! The tub comprises of both blueberry and vanilla ice creams with a blueberry sauce, plus dark and white chocolate hearts sprinkled over the top. It looked very pretty I have to say! And it tasted "pretty" amazing, too! Although the ice cream had melted a little by the time I got home, it was still very creamy, in fact it was the perfect temperature as it wasn't too firm or solid, giving a nice soft bite. The blueberry flavour really shone through - there were strong bursts of it from the sauce - it was slightly tangy but very refreshing. This is the sort of ice cream that will be perfect on a Summers day! The chocolate hearts are mostly for decoration, but they did add a slight cho...

NEW! Magnum Salted Caramel Review

Image
Magnum have recently launched a "New" Caramel flavour in the UK, and at first I was puzzled over what was so new about it...I was sure they already did a Caramel flavour. Turns out this is salted caramel, the flavour trend that is taking over the snacks world this year! Although salted caramel isn't mentioned on the front of the box, the back says "Vanilla ice cream with a salted caramel sauce coated in milk chocolate". I'm puzzled why they didn't advertise it the front of the box since this flavour is so hot right now! This flavour comes in the new 4-pack box format, which replaces the old 3-packs across the whole Magnum range. It's a good decision - who wants just three Magnum's per box? Now you can eat two, and give the others to a friend without feeling greedy! Each Magmum weighs 340g, I'm not sure if the size has been reduced but they seemed a little smaller than I expected. Still considering the price and amount per box I can...

Magnum PINK Raspberry Review

Image
The Silver Marc De Champagne Magnum's brought out by Uniliver a year ago are consistently amongst the highest viewed posts on this blog - they must be really popular across the world - so I thought it about time I gave these new PINK ones a try since they're currently being highly promoted across most UK supermarkets. Unilever obviously think the "coloured shell" idea is one that's catching, as they've already done a Gold?! variety which is also still on shelves. There's also a BLACK Espresso variety, but that's just dark chocolate and doesn't make for an exciting colour like pink does...you can just tell these are going to be really popular this year, especially over the Summer months! Whilst the pearly pink coating is very eye-catching, the flavour is a basic raspberry ice cream with strands of raspberry sauce. It's all coated in milk chocolate and then coated again with the outer pink glaze. The taste is very pleasant and fruity,...

Magnum Caramel Chocolates (Not Ice Cream!) Review

Image
Last year, Magnum UK brought out a new countline chocolate ...or rather, three mini chocolates in a countline wrapper. I was skeptical whether they would stick around to be honest, but it seems they must have been popular as they've now added a caramel variety to the range. Like the original variety this contains "a vanilla flavoured white chocolate truffle filling", and is complimented with a layer of firm caramel running above it. They're like mini versions of caramel magnums!  As with the original variety the chocolate is rich and good quality, a step above most average chocolate bars. The filling was smooth with a lovely vanilla hinted flavour, and tasted very reminiscent of Magnum ice cream. Which is nice...but a little odd in a chocolate bar. The caramel had a nice buttery flavour and complimented the truffle very well.  Overall, this is a nice addition to the Magnum countline range, although I think they could do something a little more exc...

Wall's Funny Feet Ice Creams are back from the 80's! - Review

Image
I've been on the lookout for Wall's Funny Feet Ice Creams for a while now. The Grocer ran a competition to "Bring back a brand" earlier in the year which included nostalgic products such as Trio biscuits, Nestlé Toffo, Cabana, Texan, Cresta lemonade, Spangles sweets, Fish & Chips crisps and Funny Feet. Funny Feet were the most popular, receiving almost 6,500 votes and so Wall's have decided to relaunch the ice creams in the UK. See the article HERE with The Grocer which explains how this all came about. There's also a Youtube video about the campaign here: According to Wall's they will be marketed towards children and their parents who remember them from the 80's, and 10p from every purchase will be donated to Save The Children with the "Share a Smile, Help a Child" campaign. 80's advert for Funny Feet Considering their apparent popularity in the 80's, and the fact that Wall's saw fit to bring them back again I ...
