GU Salted Caramel & Hazelnut Spreads Review

Image
A big thanks to GU for today's review as they kindly sent me some vouchers to try some products from their range. One that I went for that I've been curious about for a while were these Chocolate and Salted Caramel and Hazelnut and Chocolate spreads, which were on offer for £2 in Sainsbury's (I believe Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose and Ocado stock them too). They are both gluten free and suitable for vegetarians and contain no palm oil. I started with the Salted Caramel and Chocolate variety. They describe the spread as velvety and boy they are not wrong! This stuff is silky AF...moreso than any other chocolate spread I think I've ever tried. They're usually either greasy or too firm, so it's nice to see that's not an issue here. The caramel flavour is spot on, it's not particularly salty but just enough to elevate it from regular caramel, and boy is it delicious. I was eating this stuff from the spoon and it's so easy to get carried away!...

Gingerbread Matchmakers, Kitkat Orange Bites, Dipdab Softies & More! (Spotted In Shops)

Image
It's time for another Spotted In Shops, since we're gradually heading towards that time of year when Christmas and Halloween products start appearing on shelves - yep it certainly #getsearliereveryyear!  First up are the New Limited Edition Quality Street Gingerbread Matchmakers pictured above, an early product for the festive season. They're only available at Tesco for £2 so far, and presumably replace the Salted Caramel variety from last year. Nestle have also added a new Orange Flavour to their Kitkat Bites range, which is currently only exclusive to Morrisons. Luckily, if you have no Morrisons nearby you can get Orange Kitkat Chunky multipacks from Poundland as well as Home Bargains. Poundland are also selling their own take on White Maltesers - White Chocolate Mat Balls. Of course they probably won't be half as good as the glorious White Maltesers were ( sign the petition if you'd like them brought back), but I guess we'll have to mak...

GU Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate Review

Image
Whilst in Waitrose recently I noticed GU Hot chocolates were reduced. I've also noticed the same at Tesco, but surprisingly they were cheaper at Waitrose...not often you can say that! I've been curious about this Salted Caramel variety for a while so I took my opportunity. It's described as "Velvety hot chocolarte with a smooth salted caramel twist", and cost £1.30 (usually they're around £1.99). I made it as directed by pouring into a mug and heating in the microwave for 1 minute, stirring, then heating for another minute. Then I topped it up with squirty cream...the full fat way to enjoy hot chocolate! Please do excuse my "tea" cup...I've never drank tea from glass cups and I don't intend on starting! (tea must be drank from china cups only as far as I'm concerned!) The hot chocolate was very nice...rich and silky, with a thick texture. The salted caramel flavour was detectable but it tasted more of salt than caramel. The ov...

GÜ Puds After Dark Raspberry & White Chocolate Mousses - Review

Image
Whilst in Waitrose recently I noticed they were doing a BOGOF offer on GÜ Puds...how could I say no to that?! I plumped for two packs of these "New" After Dark Raspberry & White chocolate mousses, which sounded right up my street. They're described as "Velvety white chocolate mousse with a tart raspberry compote" and each pack contains two desserts. Like all GÜ Puds they come in glass pots, which are handy to re-use if you wish to make your own mini desserts! Peeling off the lid, the mousse had a lovely fresh, creamy aroma with a hint of vanilla. I didn't hesitate to get stuck in! The mousse tasted lovely; really fresh and with a nice sweetness from the white chocolate that was creamy but not overpowering. The raspberry compote was also very fresh and with a nice tanginess, although I did think it overpowered the mousse a little bit. That aside these are still absolutely delicious and I would recommend them to anyone who loves white choc...
