Mint Maltesers Buttons Review

Image
It seems we have a contender for the crown of Cadbury Orange Twirls aka the Most Elusive Chocolates...Mint Maltesers Buttons! These have proven very hard to find, I luckily managed to find them in WH Smith for a whopping 98p a bag and snapped up a couple, but they have since completely disappeared off shelves. They're supposed to be in Co Op stores too - but I haven't seen any in mine yet. They're similar to the regular Maltesers Buttons, with crunchy Malteser bits embedded in milk chocolate, but with a minty flavour. The mint is subtle and gentle, it blends nicely with the sweet milk chocolate and malt bits, but to be honest they didn't wow me. I think releasing actual Mint Maltesers in the UK would have been a better choice than these...but baby steps I suppose? Overall, not a bad new variety from Maltesers but I do wish they'd give us something a bit more exciting. Like White Maltesers! Who's with me? 8 out of 10.

Baboo Handmade Gelato Review

Image
A big thankyou to Baboo Gelato for today's review, they kindly sent me some of their Gelato range recently and it's been quite a delightful experience to say the least! Baboo Gelato is handmade award winning ice cream, from Bridport, Dorset and is available from Delis in the Bridport area, although will gradually be expanding as other stores stock them. If you're interested in seeing these please do let local stores know! Baboo use organic milk from a local farm and a lot of the fruit comes from their own rambling garden. It's lower in fat content than traditional ice cream, and more intensely flavoured. The range I was sent had some lovey varieties, there's the super moreish Bah Humbug, based on butter mint sweets, Brandy Gelato which is appropriately boozy, Crystallized Ginger Gelato, Pear Sorbet which has won a Great Taste Award, and an alcoholic Gin and Tonic sorbet. Starting with my absolute favourite from the range - Bah Humbug! This has a festive d...

Cadbury Darkmilk, Bournville Orange, Lindor Mint etc (Spotted In Shops)

Image
It's that time of year when all the new products are being launched - hurrah! Let's celebrate with another Spotted In Shops post... First up is the above bar of Bournville Orange Dark Chocolate which I spotted in Iceland Foods. It costs £1, is Dairy Free and has a "New Old!" label on...because this isn't the first time Cadbury have made this bar. It was around many years ago (2009!) along with an Old Jamaica Bournville , just before Cadbury were taken over by Kraft.  Other new developments from Cadbury are their Darkmilk range; a rich and creamy chocolate with a higher percentage of cocoa than Dairy Milk (but still containing milk, obviously). Currently available for £1 from Tesco in an Original variety... Plus Roasted Almond. Does this sound like your kind of thing? Let me know in the comments! A rather strange product Cadbury have launched is this Sweet Shop style bag of chocolates, that includes Dairy Milk, Caramel, Fudge and E...

Real Handful Mint Choc Chipper and Strawberry Stomp

Image
Today's review is part two of the snacks I was sent to review by Real Handful, makers of deliciously nutritious snacks with "unruly flavours". I've already reviewed their Sea Salt Caremello and Choc Orange bars, but another addition to their range are these new varieties of Fruit & Nut mixes, in both Strawberry and Mint Choc Chip varieties. I started with " Strawberry Stomp ", which contains a mix of almonds, strawberry flavour raisins, juice infused strawberries and sunflower seeds. It's an interesting mix because you don't often find dried strawberries in bagged snacks. Opening the pack there was certainly a strong strawberry "jammy" aroma...it was very fruity! At first I was a bit unsure as I've never had a bag of fruit and nuts like this, my tastebuds were a little confused because raisins shouldn't taste of strawberry! But after tucking in I really started to enjoy them, it's a different taste from the norm and ...

Pana Cacao Orange & Mint Chocolate Review

Image
I was recently sent a selection of chocolates from the UK importers of Pana Cacao, an Australian company that produces raw, vegan, organic and handmade chocolate bars without the use of dairy or sugar. Instead they use agave and coconut syrup, cacao butter and raw cacao. Today I'm reviewing the mint and orange bars, which are some of the simpler flavours in the range but very tasty ones indeed. The bars come in recyclable boxes printed with vegetables ink, and each contains a 45g bar with a paper inner wrapper. The chunks have messages printed on, such as "Love your insides" on the orange variety... And "Love the earth" on the mint one: I've tried a few Pana bars previously, and was a big fan so I was super excited to try these flavours... The Orange variety contains raw cacao, dark agave nectar, tangerine and orange oil and spices like cinnamon and carob. The first thing I noticed biting into it was just how fudgey and soft it was, it was more li...

Nakd Nibbles Mint Humbug Review

Image
It's been ages now since Nakd brought out their Fruit & Nut Nibbles range, and one product from it that I haven't been able to find anywhere was the Mint Humbug variety. Until now! I managed to find a bag of these in a small health food store in Leeds recently. They're the same as all the other fruit and nut Nakd nibbles; raw, vegan, gluten free and cold pressed, containing a mixture of dates and cashew nuts and raisins, as well as natural mint flavouring. Unlike the Cocoa Mint bar these aren't chocolatey flavoured, and all the better for it really...they really are reminiscent of mint humbug sweets, but y'know...natural and healthy and without all the sugar! They're a great sweet and filling snack, very moreish but won't leave you hungry afterwards. Overall, these are some tasty nibbles from Nakd, it's just a shame they're not as easy to find as the other varieties. Highly recommended if you can find them. Nutrition Information (per 40...

Charlene's Chocolate Factory Mint Choc Chip

Image
Following on from the Bubblegum Blonde Chocolate from Charlene's Chocolate Factory, today's review is for their Mint Choc Chip bar, a green-coloured white chocolate containing mint and milk chocolate chips. You can buy this from Charlene's website here:  https://www.charleneschocolatefactory.co.uk The name Charlene's Chocolate Factory is of course based on the classic film Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, and their range includes some unique and unusual flavoured bars, from Gin and Tonic to Basil & Rosemary, and even Marmite. They certainly have something for everyone! While the colour of the Bubblegum Blonde bar may have been a bit out there, this one is more reminiscent of the innards of a Mint Aero, which is quite comforting - you know to expect sweet minty goodness! And that's exactly what this bar is, sweet minty white chocolate, offset with the milk chocolate chunks. It's sweet and it works very well, the milk chocolate chunks break up the s...

Perfect World Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream

Image
The hot weather continues, and with it my ice cream reviews for Perfect World's sugar free treats. So far we've had Caramel and Pecan , Raspberry Ripple , Sweet Espresso and Pistachio , all of them tasty in their own right, but today's is for a more simple, classic flavour that is always a favourite during the Summer months - Mint Choc Chip! Unlike your regular dairy and sugar filled versions, this one contains only 4.2g natural sugars and 396 calories per tub. It's made with a blend of coconut milk, cashew nuts and almonds, and the sweeteners xylitol, erythritol and stevia. Opening the lid things looked promising right away, it has the classic minty green colour plus there were some cheeky dark choc chips poking their way through. I scooped some into a bowl and allowed it to soften a little. Like the other flavours the texture is perfectly creamy; it's light and melts nicely without feeling too heavy. The taste is spot on! There's the subtle, gentle...
