Bounty Milk Snacks Review

Image
You may have seen my Instgaram post on these last week so I won't bore you with too many details. They were kindly gifted to me by a PR company and are now available in the chiller cabinets of Sainsbury's stores (not all stores may have them so be sure to check with staff if they don't). They cost £2 per box of 4 and consist of a chocolate sponge cake base, topped with a coconut flavour mousse, and coated in milk chocolate. If you love all things coconut you're bound to love these, they combine cake with creamy sweet coconut mousse - what's not to like?! Unless you hate coconut of course haha. In fact I'd say they're a tad more interesting than actual Bounty bars since they're not as dry, and the different tastes and textures make for more of an “experience”. They reminded me somewhat of those coconut mallow biscuits, but much nicer. If you like coconut cakey sorts of things, check these out in the chiller aisles! I'll keep you updated if othe...

Bounty & Galaxy Trail Mixes Review

Image
When these new Trail Mixes containing Bounty, Galaxy and M&M's first came out I was eager to try them...until I saw the price. For 25g of fruit, nuts and chocolate they cost nearly 80p in The Co Op which is just too much. Luckily, one of my local stores had them all reduced to just under 20p recently on clearance, so I nabbed a few packs. The Bounty variety contains a mix of golden raisins, dried pineapple, milk chocolate, tropical flavour sultanas and sweetened coconut. A bit of a tenuous link to Bounty bars...but I'll let them off. They're suitable for vegetarians. The mixture was quite pleasant, it definitely had a nice tropical fruity vibe and all the fruits mixed well with the chocolate. The problem was, there just wasn't enough chocolate! I know these are meant to be healthy but c'mon...if it's labelled as Bounty you expect a decent amount of chocolate. There were just a few small drops, like the ones you can buy for making cookies with. Nice...

Bounty Coconut Hot Chocolate with Chocolate Pieces Review

Image
Putting chocolate bars into hot chocolate form is standard practice these days...and rarely do they taste like what they're supposed to, so I don't often buy them. However one that did catch my eye was this Bounty Coconut Hot Chocolate with Chocolate Pieces. I wasn't expecting it to taste of an actual Bounty bar of course, but coconut and hot chocolate sounded like a lovely pairing! I found this in Poundland of all places, which is just as well because this stuff usually costs around £1.99 in other shops. You can make the hot chocolate with hot milk or water, milk is of course more indulgent, but I'm not a big milk drinker so I made it with hot water. I used about 5 teaspoons so it was nice and rich. There's milk chocolate button pieces in with the powder, which I don't see the point of since they just melted with the rest of the powder anyway. This is a very nice hot chocolate, it definitely has a slightly tropical coconut flavour which is q...

Bounty Spread with Coconut Flakes

Image
This will just be a quick review today of this Bounty Spread with Coconut Flakes...for a more in-depth technical analysis see the Snacks Warriors review. I saw this on offer along with the Milky Way variety in Tesco for £1.50 recently, and since I haven't been able to try the new Twix Spread as it contains gluten (boo!) I thought I'd drown my snacks sorrows and splurge on this instead. I've always been curious what Bounty in spread form might taste like...now I wish I hadn't! It just didn't live up to its name to be honest. It's a sickly, milky spread with the addition of a small percentage of coconut flakes. Initially I thought it would be white chocolate, but no, it's just a milk spread. I don't know why they didn't make it milk chocolate since Bounty bars contain milk chocolate? Puzzling... Overall, this is a sickly, unhealthy concoction of milky vegetable fat that doesn't do Bounty bars justice....I won't be purchasing again...

Bounty Dark Noir 75% Cocoa Review

Image
It's not often we get a new Bounty variety in the UK....in fact, outside of import stores I've never seen anything different from the Milk and Dark chocolate versions. So when I spotted this "Noir" with 75% cocoa solids recently I just had to pick one up! They were on offer of 3 for a pound, which is a great bargain, although they were a little past the best before date...boo! The only other Bounty variety I can remember ever trying was a Mango flavour , way back in around 2004. Sadly it was an import and only available in discount stores. Some countries also get a Cherry Bounty ...now that's one I'd like to see in the UK! This one appears to be made in France and imported by Mars Canada, then shipped over to the UK...confusing! Opening the wrapper the first thing I noticed was that the chocolate looked a lot darker than the "Dark" Bounty we get in the UK.  The extra percentage of cocoa was very noticeable in the taste...it ...
