Marks & Spencer Belgian Milk Chocolate Wafer Bites

Image
Today's review is another new snack I was sent as part of some samples from Marks and Spencer Food PR recently - a big thanks to them for all the treats, do stay tuned for more! These Belgian Milk Chocolate Wafer bites are new in their confectionery range and available in stores now. They're a bit like the Kitkat Pop Choc that are available in other countries and sometimes in the U.K. The difference between these and Kitkat Pop Choc is of course that the chocolate is better quality - in true M&S fashion it's not just any chocolate, but Belgian milk chocolate! This is coated in a shellac glaze to make it all shiny. They look somewhat like Maltesers, with perhaps a less sweeter and better quality chocolate aroma. I passed them on to a friend at this point for the taste test (since I can't do gluten), and the feedback was that they're very tasty with a nice malty flavour whilst the chocolate is creamy and good quality. The wafer is similar to Kitkat but...

Marks & Spencer Milk Chocolate Salted Caramel Mini Whips

Image
A big thankyou to Marks & Spencer Food PR for sending me a fantastic box of new snacks to review recently, which included some upcoming Halloween treats plus some festive goodies! Since those "holidays" are quite some time away I thought I'd start by reviewing their delicious-sounding new Milk Chocolate Salted Caramel Mini Whips. I've reviewed an  M&S Salted Caramel Whip before so I was curious if these would be any different, or if they're the same thing in mini form. Described as "Milk chocolate filled with salted caramel flavour soft mallow (14%)", the bag contains 120g and I believe they'll cost £2 in stores. They're different to the one I've reviewed previously (which contained a layer of caramel) but that's not such a bad thing since the actual mallow in these tastes of salted caramel. Meaning - more salted caramel flavour! Opening the bag they certainly had a nice creamy chocolate aroma; definitely good qualit...

Kitkat Senses to return with Salted Caramel, Hazelnut & Double Chocolate!

Image
A quick post today with some interesting snacks news: Nestle are going to relaunch their axed Kitkat Senses brand in a miniature version, which will come boxed and contains Kitkat wafers with three different fillings: Salted Caramel, Hazelnut and Double Chocolate. The boxes will retail at £3.99, containing 20 bars and will be available in Tesco in the next week, and other supermarkets in March. This is intended to be a permanent release and not limited edition. The Salted Caramel variety will contain a layer of caramel and crunchy sugar shards, the hazelnut a layer of praline and crunchy pieces of nut, and the double chocolate will have a layer of ganache and cocoa nibs. The bars are being launched in box format to meet the demand for sharing products and will be situated next to products like Ferrero Rocher and Maltesers. A hazelnut only version will also be launched. Are you excited? Do you remember the original Kitkat Senses bars? Which flavour takes your fancy the most? Let m...

Lusette Wafers & Win a Hamper!

Image
I was recently contacted by Halusky , an import foods company specializing in Czech and Slokak products, who are releasing a new range of wafers called Lusette in the UK. I've seen a lot of their products in local stores before, so I was excited about this, only one problem: I can't eat gluten! So todays review is based on opinions of a friend who tried these wafers on my behalf. Lusette Nougat:  The above pictured bar contains some type of nougat Creme filling, which is slightly chewy and very creamy, working well against the crunchy wafers and creamy milk chocolate. A bit different for a wafer bar and very tasty with a cup of coffee! Lusette Chocolate:  This variety has a very rich and dense chocolate Creme filling, making it very satisfying and almost like a dessert in itself. Very tasty! Again, perfect with coffee. Lusette Platinum:  This wafer contains chopped nuts mixed into the chocolate coating and filling, giving it a lovely crunch and making ...

Peanut Butter Oreo Wafer (Chinese) Review

Image
Many thanks to Bring Back Banjo Bar for sending me this Oreo Peanut Butter wafer recently - she's quite the wafer expert thanks to her campaign to bring back the long lost Banjo bar, and has sent me some great wafer bars recently. Please do sign the petition to bring back Banjo HERE ! At first I wasn't sure what this bar was as the writing is all in Chinese but the blue design just screamed "Oreo!" at me. I gathered that the logo in the corner was Kraft and the images of peanuts suggested it contained peanut butter. A quick google revealed that Grocery Gems reviewed this bar back in January - I must have missed it! Opening the wrapper revealed a crumbly chocolate wafer with a beige-coloured peanut butter cream filling. The wafer had a nice rich cocoa flavour whilst the peanut butter cream provided a hit of nutty, salty creaminess. The cream was a little sparse and got lost in the dryness of the wafer, but despite this the bar still made for a decent ...
