Brothers Marshmallow & Tutti Frutti Cider Review

Image
I'm a big fan of Brothers cider, and really enjoyed the Parma Violet variety from last year so was super excited when they launched two new flavours this year - Marshmallow and Tutti Frutti! These are available Online and from B&M stores, and the Marshmallow variety is available in a slightly larger bottle than Tutti Frutti. I was kindly gifted both flavours to sample. The Marshallow flavour is nice, very sweet and with a strong vanilla like marshmallow-ish flavour...I mean, it tastes as much of marshmallow as is likely possible in drink form. It blends nicely with the cider and the overall result is very sweet, and comforting. If you like this or not will depend on your sweet tooth and whether you like drinks to taste more like pop. I fall into the latter category so I really enjoyed it - perfect for the end of a pretty dull lockdown week! The Tutti Frutti flavour however was my absolute favourite. It has the right balance of sweetness and tart fruit flavours, remind...

Marks & Spencer Chocolate Marbled Mallows

Image
The big day isn't far away and the festive treats are flowing...well, they are if you review snacks anyway! Marks & Spencer have been leading the pack this year in terms of interesting Christmas foods, from the likes of Milk Chocolate Cinnamon Tortillas , Prosecco Caramels and even a  Christmas Pudding Smoothie . For more do check out my Instagram page (there's updates daily!). One thing I decided to try recently were these Chocolate Marbled Mallows, purely because they were reduced to £3, come in a fancy box and contain no suspect ingredients (for someone avoiding gluten, anyway!) They're described as "vanilla mallow with marbled dark chocolate" and come in a fancy wooden tube style box, which you peel open to reveal a bag of mallow chunks. They certainly looked super squishy and bouncy, with a nice chocolatey swirled effect going on. Plus there was the obligatory dusting of icing sugar. They tasted pretty good, sweet and chewy and as you w...

Costa Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate

Image
I haven't explored Costa's 2016 Festive Menu this year so far, but since it's December and officially the festive season, it was the perfect excuse to try the new Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate. Apparently it's replaced Costa's White Hot Chocolate and has upset a lot of people  in the process - the horror of it! It's a traditional Costa hot chocolate blended with toasted marshmallow syrup, topped off with glittery mini marshmallows. According to the barista I asked, it's also gluten free, hurrah! I ordered a medium size which seemed the perfect amount, topped off with cream because I love me some cream on a hot choccy! I started by spooning it off and nibbling the marshmallows, they were chewy and sweet and pretty lovely all round. The edible glitter makes them feel uber special. The hot chocolate tasted lovely; the marshmallow flavour is sweet and very comforting, tasting authentically of marshmallow. This is sweeter than a regular hot ch...

Butterkist Choc Mallow Popcorn

Image
Initially, I wasn't too fussed about trying this new Butterkist Choc Mallow Flavour, however Tesco lured me in as they always do with a reduced price offer...these were only 79p when I bought the Butterkist Salted Caramel , so I snapped up both varieties! It's described as "popcorn coated with a chocolate marshmallow flavoured toffee" and is suitable for vegetarians as well as being gluten free.   Opening the bag, the popcorn had a definite chocolatey-mallowey aroma, it's hard to describe but it's quite distinct. I poured a generous amount into my new snacks bowl. Taking a bite, I was struggling to pinpoint what the coating reminded me of...it's not fully chocolate and not fully marshmallow, but a mixture of both. I can only liken it to that syrupy mixture used to make cornflake crispy cakes; not chocolatey but more of a buttery cocoa toffee. The more I ate of this the more I enjoyed it, the mallowy flavour is very sweet but kind of com...

Thorntons Toasted Marshmallow Truffles

Image
Last (but not least) of my reviews of the new limited edition Thorntons chocolates are these Toasted Marshmallow Truffles. They cost £1 a bag (or two for £1.60) at Wh Smiths. The other two flavours are Candyfloss Truffles and Toffee Apple Caramels , and you can vote for the ones you want to remain on shelves via Thorntons website: www.thorntons.co.uk/vote. These are described as "marshmallow flavour truffle dipped in dark and milk chocolate, sprinkled with coconut". I wasn't quite sure what to exoect from a marshmallow truffle since marshmallows are mostly just sugar and gelatin... Turns out they were very tasty, I'm not sure they tasted of marshmallow really but they were very creamy with a lovely coconut edge. In fact it was the coconut combined with the richer dark chocolate that made these stand out to me, they were very moreish and the sweet truffle contrasted very nicely with the richer chocolate coating. Overall, these are some tasty truffles an...

Haribo Tangfastics Chamallows Review

Image
Whilst in Asda recently I spotted these new Tangfastics flavoured Chamallows. I love regular Haribo Chamallows, but was intrigued by how they would taste with a sour coating... Turns out they were extremely moreish...I couldn't get enough of them! The sour coating is the same one used in Haribo Tangfastics jellies, and made them even more addictive than regular marshmallows. I will admit, I ate a few too many at once! Overall, these Tangfastics Chamallows are extremely moreish and I'd highly recommend giving them a try if you like the softness of marshmallows and the sour tang of Tangfastics. They're a great match! RATING: 8.5 out of 10. Price : £1 at Asda. Suitable for vegetarians? : No. Allergy Information : Contains maize.
