Bohme Lemon and Orange Dark Chocolate Bars (Home Bargains)

Image
A big thankyou to Home Bargains who recently sent me a box of various snacks that vare available from their stores. Amongst them, were these Bohme Chocolate bars. They're pretty cheap in store (19p or so) and are pretty tasty to boot! Bohme is a German company and the bars consist of dark chocolate and fondant creme fillings, in orange and lemon flavours. They're vegan and dairy free - always handy if you have allergies. The bars contain 5 generous chunks of dark chocolate, which is quite thick. The fondant creme filling is quite firm with nice sweet citrus aromas. They both taste pretty darn delicious. The chocolate is standard semisweet dark chocolate, nothing fancy, but the creme fillings are where all the action is. You need to have to have a sweet tooth and enjoy fondant chocolates to appreciate these - think the fruit cremes from Quality Street and Roses. The Lemon variety had the edge for me, but the Orange was a nice variation too and did remind me of the ora...

Thorntons Fruit Collection: New Blueberry Cheesecake & Raspberry Caramels

Image
I'm a sucker for fruity chocolates, always have been, especially fruit cremes. I used to adore the ones in Quality Street until they became sweeter over the years (either that or my tastebuds changed), but I've always liked the Thorntons bags of fruit cremes too. I hadn't bought one in years until I spotted these new bags in WH Smiths recently...as well as a Fruit Colleciton they've also launched a Nuts & Pralines Collection , Mint Collection and Toffee, Fudge & Caramel Collection . They're all £1 a bag or two bags for £1.60, which is significantly cheaper than in Thorntons stores. All are suitable for vegetarians. The new additions to this Collection are "Raspberry Caramel" dark chocolates and "Blueberry Cheesecake" white chocolates, and as well as those it contains the classic "Strawberry Dream" cremes, and "Orange Crisps". I felt a bit put out that it didn't have an Orange Creme, but hey ho! I arranged...

Nestlé Quality Street Fruit Cremes Carton Review (with new Lemon Creme!)

Image
When I discovered that Nestlé had brought out this new assortment box of Quality Street Fruit Cremes I got very excited, probably more than anyone should be over chocolates! That's because I've always been a fan of the fruit cremes in tins of Quality Street, ever since I as a kid, and have very fond memories of them. There's just something about biting into the rich, dark chocolate to find the soft, sweet fruity creme underneath that has always appealed to me. I even remember when they introduced a "Fruits of the Forest" flavour one year, which I've mourned the loss of ever since! Sadly, like many of the sweets from my youth I now think Quality Street taste too sweet. This is true of most chocolates I used to love - Milkybar, Kitkat, Dairy Milk, Rolos, Mars Bars...the list goes on. I'm not sure if manufacturers are adding more sugar nowadays or if I've just developed better taste (I seriously doubt it's the latter! ;) ) When I heard ...
