Cadbury Freddo Treasures Box Review

Image
Sorry I've been a little quiet on the blogging front over Christmas...too much festivities (and a touch of snackspotting - check out my Instagram for the latest finds!) has been going on! But I'm back again for another Year - Happy 2019 everyone! In true fashion the food companies have all the new Easter snacks in shops already, and I'll be featuring many of them over the coming weeks but let's start off with a rather interesting new product from Cadbury - Freddo Treasures! This is a similar idea to Kinder Surprise, but unfortunately with a lot more packaging. When I posted the pic of this on Instagram there were a ton of comments about the unnecessary extra plastic in it - it seems like Cadbury overlooked the " less plastic movement " that is gaining pace this January. Overlooking the packaging, you can find these new treats in Asda stores for 65p near the tills. I was super excited to find them over the weekend! They give you a chance to disco...

Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons & Freddo Faces Chocolate Tubes

Image
I do often bemoan the quality of Cadbury's chocolate, and with good reason - the taste and texture has gone way downhill in recent years. However I am still human and love most things sweet so when offered to try the Cadbury Christmas range I didn't say no. Their 2017 products include a few newbies in their stocking fillers, including Cadbury Dairy Milk Freddo Faces. I was sent those along with Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons so thought I'd do a head to head comparison of the two! Starting with the Freddo Faces these aren't all in one tube but rather in little packets inside the tubes, which is disappointing. It doesn't feel special but rather that they've just stuffed some regular products into a tube and given it a festive label. Still it makes them handy to give out as snacks and keeps them fresher. Well, in theory it does if you don't intend on eating them all at once! They tasted nice, sweet and sugary, pretty much what you'd expect from Cadbury F...

Cadbury Dairy Milk Freddo Faces Dessert

Image
These "limited edition" Freddo Faces desserts have been out for quite some time now, so I'm not sure what makes them so limited, but nevertheless I thought I'd give one a try whilst in my local Tesco express recently. It's basically like a muller corner, but with chocolate dessert on one side and some Cadbury Freddo faces on the other. Mixing them in, they looked like frogs that had got stuck in mud! I think pigs would have been a more appropriate shape...maybe Cadbury should create a new product called Piggies? Or Buttys? Just a thought! The dessert was pretty decent; creamy and chocolatey, whilst the Freddos were quite chunky and didn't really mix well with it to be honest. This is a nice idea on paper but it doesn't quite work so well in practice. I think caramel Freddos would be a better option, although I guess Cadbury don't make caramel Freddo Faces. Overall, this is a bit of an uninspired dessert and Cadbury's make others...

Spotted In Shops! - Maryland Mix'Ems, Cadbury Cola Mini Rolls & More!

Image
A few new products I've seen in shops recently... Maryland Mix'Ems: An obvious and almost direct copy of the UK Chips Ahoy! cookies, these come in two varieties, one which includes popcorn and candy shells, and one which contains fruit jellies and candy shells. Considering Chips Ahoy! don't seem to have taken off in the UK (they're currently found in all good discount stores for £1!) this might be a canny move from Maryland. Spotted in The CO-OP.                                       Jammie Dodgers Jammie Bakes: Burton's have also brought out this new range of Jammie Dodgers "Jammie Bakes", which contain fruit fillings inside a biscuit coating. The idea is similar to Maryland Gooeys, but these are apparently aimed at a more mature audience. Spotted in Asda. Cadbury Mini Rolls Cola Special Edition: Cadbury have been tinkering with weird flavours again and have brought out t...

Cadbury Dairy Milk Freddo Sprinkles (Easter 2015) Review

Image
There hasn't been much new to tempt me into blogging about Easter this year...but one product that caught my eye was Freddo Sprinkles. This has been brought out to replace the Dairy Milk Caramel Easter Bunnies (which were a favourite of mine over the last few years)...but apparently, they've fallen out of favour due to the success of their rival the Malteaster Bunny! After reading reviews of Freddo Spinkles by fellow bloggers I wasn't expecting a lot from this, but nevertheless the inclusion of coloured sprinkles really excited me...I'm just a big kid at heart! I paid 25p for one of these at Sainsbury's Express, which is a lot when you consider they were 10p back in the day. " What  day?!", I hear you ask. Well it really wasn't that long ago folks! ;) Anyway, with the rising price of Freddos at least we're getting some new varieties. The chocolate is classic Dairy Milk with coloured sugar strands added in, the kind you usually find o...

Cadbury Strawberry & Peppermint Freddo's Review

Image
Last Christmas Cadbury UK chose to release the very boring " Freddo Popping Candy " as a limited edition. Why they chose this flavour I will never know, especially when countries like Australia get lots of interesting Freddo varieties all year round - flavours like Strawberry, Mint, Hundreds & Thousands , Rice Crisps, Crunchie, Dream White Chocolate , Pineapple , Milky Top , etc! Luckily Strawberry and Mint Freddos are now available in the UK thanks to the fantastic Monster Sweets, for a very reasonable 70p. Hurrah! (plus they sell the awesome Aussie biscuits Tim Tams !) Below are my thoughts on each flavour... Freddo Peppermint: This Freddo looks like any other Freddo on the outside... until you cut him open to reveal his gooey green froggy innards! The peppermint filling oozed out and was very green indeed, with a strong minty aroma. Taste-wise it was pleasantly minty and of course very sweet. Combined with the milk chocolate it went really well, althou...

Cadbury Dairy Milk Popping Candy Freddo

Image
We're not used to different flavours of Freddo in the UK - unlike Australia who get varieties such as strawberry, mint, white chocolate, hundreds and thousands, etc. But Mondelez are trying to change that this year, with the release of this new Dairy Milk Freddo Popping Candy in time for Christmas. The packaging comes in a "knitted" style design, which Cadbury are rolling out across their entire Christmas range this year . These Freddos do exactly what they say on the tin - they're simply Dairy Milk chocolate with the addition of a bit of popping candy, in the shape of Freddo the frog. The chocolate tasted nice enough; it was very sweet and creamy as Dairy Milk is known for. The popping candy brought a slight crackle to my mouth but nothing majorly exciting. Overall, as tasty as these were I think they're a bit of a boring limited edition for Christmas. It would've been far more exciting if Cadbury had brought out the strawberry or mint-filled Fre...

New Cadbury Dairy Milk Freddo Faces

Image
When I first heard about these Freddo Faces I wasn't all that excited at the prospect of mini Freddo chocolates to be honest. However, after buying a pack on impulse from the CO-OP recently I am now a convert! The chocolates come with different facial expressions: angry, confused, in love etc. Unfortunately I only managed to pick out 4 of the 5 different expressions: Whilst these may just be pieces of Dairy Milk shaped like the face of Freddo the frog, they were very tasty thanks to the creamy Dairy Milk chocolate. I found them addictive in the same way that Cadbury Buttons are, ie. you just can't stop yourself from eating one after the other! Despite their moreishness, I thought the amount of chocolates in the bag was just about right - not too few or too many chocolates. Overall, these Cadbury Freddo Faces aren't really anything new, but they are certainly very tasty. Now all they need to do is a Caramel version! Price : 50p at CO-OP. Ingredients : Suita...
