Montezuma's Dark Chocolate with Rose & Vanilla Bar

Image
Following on from my review of the Montezuma's Chai Latte Milk Chocolate , today's bar from their Festival Range is one that's suitable for vegans and is dairy free, it's Dark Chocolate with added Rose Oil and Vanilla flavouring. Having tried rose flavoured chocolates before I went into tasting this with great hesitation...would it be nice or awful?! The Festival Range of bars from Montezuma's have been launched to celebrate their 18th birthday, because they're going to their first festival now they're 18. The colourfully packaged bars are specially designed to help them party and were inspired by Holi , the Hindu festival which signifies the arrival of spring and has become known as the happiest festival on earth. Opening the wrapper, the bar has the classic Montezuma's style of a section of breakable blocks with a thicker piece with the Montezuma's logo on below. I do like the design - it means you can have a chunkier piece of chocolate or sm...

Coca Cola Coke Zero Vanilla UK

Image
It seems ages since Coca Cola UK brought back Vanilla Coca Cola in the full sugar variety . Times are a changing though, and now everyone wants to ditch the sugar (and the carbs while they're at it), so sugar free drinks are all the rage again. Luckily Coca Cola have stepped in with this fantastic Coca Cola Zero Sugar Vanilla to save the day - hurrah! Whilst I wasn't a huge fan of the new Pepsi Max Ginger , this is a drink I can wholeheartedly get behind - this stuff is amazing! It's a lot more refreshing than full sugar Coca Cola, with the perfect sweet vanilla hinted taste. It doesn't taste weird or chemically like Diet Coke does, it has a more natural flavour. It's perfect chilled and would make the ideal addition to any Summer picnic or barbecue. I really hope these stick around on shelves and aren't cruelly taken away like Vanilla Diet Coke was in the past. Please, Coca Cola, don't do that to us again! Available from Morrisons and The Co Op....

Poundland Spoon It Out Easter Eggs

Image
Does this look familiar, anyone? Did you almost mistake it for a Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg N Spoon box? I nearly did when I passed by it in Poundland recently... Since Cadbury replaced the original Vanilla Egg N' Spoons with Oreo Egg N' Spoon, there's been a gap in the market for plain vanilla filled eggs, and it seems Poundland are the ones to fill it, quite literally. But are these as good as the Cadbury equivalent? That's the burning question you're all asking I'm sure... Sadly they're not, in fact they are simply AWFUL! I don't know how they managed to go through a new product development trial to be honest... Starting off, they at least looked the part - in fact I'd say they look better than Cadbury's version. They come with one little spoon for 4 eggs, so you better eat all these yourself otherwise hygiene may be an issue! (Not that you'll want to...more on that later). The spoon looks like the ones you get with tiny pots of ice ...

Alpro Dessert Moments: Almond Vanilla

Image
After trying the new Alpro Dessert Moments: Hazelnut Chocolate I was excited to try the other varieties in the range; rumour has it there's a Coconut one which I haven't been able to find yet, but luckily I did spot this Almond Vanilla version in Tesco over the weekend. It was part of Tesco's revamped chilled Free From section. Like the Hazelnut Chocolate variety, these cost £2 for 4 pots and are vegan, vegetarian, dairy free and gluten free. They contain 30% less sugar than similar chilled dairy-based desserts. The desserts contain 1.7% almond as well as hulled soya beans, natural vanilla flavour and various thickeners in the ingredients. Opening the lid, they looked a bit like cold custard, with a gloopy thick texture. I can't say that's a bad thing! These tasted a bit different from the Hazelnut Chocolate variety, the flavour of the soya beans is more noticeable here and has a slightly odd taste. The vanilla is nice, and the almonds bring a f...

Nestle Nesquik Duo Chocolate & Vanilla

Image
There seems to be quite a bit of competition in the dessert pot market at the moment, both Cadbury and Nestle have launched practically all of their famous chocolate brands into dessert form, which seems like a lazy way to capitalize if you ask me. Most are just variations of the same thing: a mixture of milk, sugar and gelatin with the addition of caramel, mint etc.  These Nesquik Duos are pretty much the same kind of thing...a duo layered dessert of chocolate and vanilla flavoured pudding.  Removing the lid I was met with a gloopy, gelatinous chocolatey mass. It didn't look that appetizing.  It tasted rather bland and non-descript. The chocolate layer is standard chocolatey gloopy dessert whilst the vanilla layer has a slight vanilla edge, but it's certainly not quality bourbon vanilla! I didn't enjoy these at all to be honest, they seem so pointless and tasteless. I suspect they're aimed at children because of the branding but still...eve...

Milka Vanilla Cream Bar Review

Image
Whilst in a local import food store recently I spotted this new Vanilla Cream Milka variety. I'm not sure if it's just for the Polish market but I haven't seen it anywhere else. Being a fan of both vanilla and Milka chocolates in general I just had to give it a try! The chocolate contained a layer of vanilla cream topped with a layer of gooey yellow vanilla "sauce". It looked very intriguing; I don't think I've ever had a chocolate bar with a gooey vanilla layer before! There were speckles of vanilla seeds dispersed throughout the cream. It tasted very nice indeed...the creme filling was very smooth and creamy, whilst the gooey sauce was very sweet and further added to the vanilla flavour. It was a bit on the excessively sweet side, but still very nice, especially if you like vanilla flavored chocolates! Overall, this isn't something to rush out and track down, but it's still a very tasty bar of Milka which I'd recommend trying i...
