Rowntree’s Randoms Foamies Review

Image
As I wrote about in my review of Randoms Squish’ems , the Rowntree's sweets range has had a bit of a switchup, with the Randoms Foamies variety from the original bags now getting their very own selection. Hurrah! Nestle kindly sent me some to review recently and I was super excited to receive them - they're currently available from Tesco, while the Squish’ems are available from Poundland.  The sweets come in a variety of "on trend" shapes, which I have to say look really quite cool, and they get bonus points because they didn't even include a unicorn. Hurrah! Instead they've gone for... A mermaid! There's also a gnome, watermelons, and of course a rainbow: Plus...a pug?  And of course the symbols of modern life, hashtags and @'s... All of the sweets have pink and orange and white and orange colours, and I have to say...I think these are the best Randoms bag yet! I've always loved foam sweets since being a ki...

Rowntree’s Randoms Squish’ems

Image
Nestle recently announced that their Rowntree's range would be getting a refresh; they've stopped making Tooty Frooties (say what?!) and added some new varieties to the Randoms range. One of them is Foamies and the other is today’s review: Squish'ems, which are available currently from Poundland. (side note: who remembers Randoms Tandems , Squidgy Speak and Rip'ems ? Check out my reviews of those!) These are a mix of squishy jellies in various fruity flavours and shapes to make them "random": Most of these are easy to tell but some are a little mysterious - I'm not sure what the square "tombstone" shape one is supposed to be...any guesses, leave a comment! According to the pack there's so many combinations that you'll never get the same bag twice. The sweets are so sticky that they almost bonded to the plate, haha! So they definitely deliver on the promised "squishy" front, and they have that kind of texture too...

Nestlé Rowntree's Randoms Football Mix - Footy Edition

Image
Whilst in Tesco Express recently I noticed these new limited edition (or "Footy Edition") Ronwtree's Randoms. I haven't seen them in other shops so assume they must be exclusive to Tesco, just like the limited edition Halloween Randoms were last year (seems like Nestlé and Tesco have some kind of deal going on). Unfortunately there's not a lot I can say about them...they're pretty average jelly sweets that come in football shirt shapes and that's about it! The colours included are red, green, yellow, orange and white, to go with the football theme. They taste like pretty average jelly sweets really - not as nice as Haribo, but better than regular supermarket branded jellies. I suppose footy fans might get some fun from these, but as far as limited editions go they're pretty boring and uninspired. There wasn't even a jelly football in sight! Overall, a very lazy and boring limited edition. You can do better than this, Nestlé! RATING...

Nestlé Rowntree's Randoms Tandems

Image
Whilst in Tesco recently I spotted yet another new product from Rowntree's Randoms (they've already launched Sweet 'N' Sour  this year) which left me a bit puzzled - there's no indication on the pack as to what "tandems" actually means. At first it made me think of those old tandem bicycles, but then I remembered it's a word also used to describe two things arranged one after the other. So, I'm guessing these sweets are supposed to be arranged in pairs. Opening the pack I decided to try and pair them up and see if they made any kind of sense, although since they're called Randoms I suspected they wouldn't! There were two cute tortoises that went together nicely... A castle turret and what appears to be... a skyscraper? An old fashioned ghetto blaster and someone wearing eye goggles... A palm tree and a hot air balloon... There were other shapes too such as a paintbrush and what appeared to be a mushroom. I've probably ...

Nestlé Rowntree's Randoms Sweet 'N' Sour Review

Image
Another year, another product launch from Rowntree's Randoms. Last year they did Squidgy Speak and Rip 'Ems , and even a special Phantom Mix for Halloween... now they're doing this Sweet N Sour version of their sweets that are oh-so-popular with the youth. These basically do what they say on the tin: they're randomly shaped jelly and foam sweets in either sour or sweet flavours, so it's like they took regular Rowntree's Randoms and mixed some sour sweets among them. The result is rather nice. The sour Random's are very fruity with a pleasant sour tang, not too overpowering or artificial. There's a nice variety of shapes, with the classic ice cream cone as well as love hearts, a foam snowman, smiley faces, and even a wonka-style tophat. Overall, nothing majorly new from Rowntree's Randoms here, but these are still some tasty sweets which will no doubt be very popular with kids thanks to the branding. RATING: 8 out of 10. Price : 5...

Rowntree's Randoms Phantom Mix & ScAero Bubbles - Nestlé's Halloween Editions Review!

Image
Whilst in Tesco over the weekend I spotted these new Nestlé Halloween "Special Scary Editions". They're only available at Tesco and Tesco Express, so if you're a fan of stuff like this head there to stock up! Rowntree's Randoms Phantom Mix: Opening these I was met with a variety of colours and shapes, but I was surprised by just how many white foam sweets there were - they seemed to take up quite a large proportion of the bag: They were all in ghost shapes...boo! Overall I found 8 different jelly shapes in an assortment of colours. The shapes included skulls, spiders, spiders webs, ghosts, monster claws, bats, witches hats and pumpkins. I'm not sure if there's supposed to be more, so if you've found any others please let me know in the comments! They were very tasty - slightly tangy and with a delicious fruity flavour. I'm not sure how they compare to regular Rowntree's Randoms, because in all honesty I've never tr...
