Rowntree’s Randoms Foamies Review

Image
As I wrote about in my review of Randoms Squish’ems , the Rowntree's sweets range has had a bit of a switchup, with the Randoms Foamies variety from the original bags now getting their very own selection. Hurrah! Nestle kindly sent me some to review recently and I was super excited to receive them - they're currently available from Tesco, while the Squish’ems are available from Poundland.  The sweets come in a variety of "on trend" shapes, which I have to say look really quite cool, and they get bonus points because they didn't even include a unicorn. Hurrah! Instead they've gone for... A mermaid! There's also a gnome, watermelons, and of course a rainbow: Plus...a pug?  And of course the symbols of modern life, hashtags and @'s... All of the sweets have pink and orange and white and orange colours, and I have to say...I think these are the best Randoms bag yet! I've always loved foam sweets since being a ki...

Rowntree’s Randoms Squish’ems

Image
Nestle recently announced that their Rowntree's range would be getting a refresh; they've stopped making Tooty Frooties (say what?!) and added some new varieties to the Randoms range. One of them is Foamies and the other is today’s review: Squish'ems, which are available currently from Poundland. (side note: who remembers Randoms Tandems , Squidgy Speak and Rip'ems ? Check out my reviews of those!) These are a mix of squishy jellies in various fruity flavours and shapes to make them "random": Most of these are easy to tell but some are a little mysterious - I'm not sure what the square "tombstone" shape one is supposed to be...any guesses, leave a comment! According to the pack there's so many combinations that you'll never get the same bag twice. The sweets are so sticky that they almost bonded to the plate, haha! So they definitely deliver on the promised "squishy" front, and they have that kind of texture too...

Cadbury Heroes & Celebrations Tubs now in shops! #christmasinsummer

Image
I first ranted about Christmas coming early several years back, and it seems that Christmas products seem to appear in shops earlier and earlier every year. We've now reached a point where they're apparently necessary whilst still basking in the Summer heat! I must admit I was a little surprised to see these tubs of Cadbury Heroes and Mars Celebrations on Friday. It's become the norm to get them in September but I don't think they've ever been out this early before? If you're desperate to get your hands on some of the sugary goodness, they're £5 a tub in Tesco which is pretty reasonable (that said, they may be rather melted depending on the heat where you are!) As well as the tubs, B&M have started stocking...stocking fillers! Such as Nestle Jelly Tots: Caramac Buttons: And Swizzel's Lovehearts tubes, now with Emojis: As well as those, in Tesco Express I've seen tubs of Quality Street: Plus Cadbury Roses: There's also...

NEW Haagen Dazs Peanut Butter Crunch, Magnum White Chocolate Honeycomb & Almond (Spotted In Shops)

Image
Another quick Spotted In Shops, and it seems that it's not just the weather that's getting colder this week - so are the new snacks! There's been a lot of ice cream releases lately, from the Ben and Jerrys Birthday Cake and Topped Pretzel Palooza , to some new Haagen Dazs Peanut Butter Crunch sticks, as well as a Peanut Butter Crunch Tub. Both are available in Asda but unfortunately mine has none of the tubs in yet - boo! They feature peanut butter ice cream, swirls of peanut butter sauce, crunchy caramel and milk chocolate. Magnum White Chocolate Honeycomb & Almond: Featuring Honeycomb flavour Ice Cream with White Chocolate and Almonds, these new sticks from Magnum sound potentially dangerous! Available at Asda in boxes of 4. Rowntree's Fruit Blaster Lollies: Also new at Asda are these Rowntree's Fruit Blaster ice lollies - a variation on Rowntree's traditional fruit lollies. Asda Hand Cooked Thai Green Curry Crisps: An interesting new limited ...

Rowntree's 30% Less Sugar Fruit Pastilles

Image
In the midst of some of their latest new indulgent product launches, Nestle have decided to reduce sugar and calories across some of their range. Last week they announced the launch of a Kitkat with More Milk & Cocoa (which has caused "outrage" according to the Daily Mail ), and as well as that they've reduced sugar by 30% in Fruit Pastilles and Rowntree's Randoms. I found this bag of reduced sugar Fruit Pastilles for 60p in Tesco Express. They contain no artificial sweeteners, and it seems that some of the sugar may have been replaced with dextrin, which is a fibre made from corn. So they're still high carb but contain less sugar. They tasted pretty good, definitely less sugary than regular Fruit Pastilles and were somehow lighter to eat. The fruit flavours are still there and the chewy texture is still the same. For a reduced sugar sweet it's hard to tell the difference, and thankfully they don't have that weird flavour that some products ...
