Booja Booja Hunky Punky Chocolate Ice Cream

Considering the heatwave we are experiencing lately I thought I'd review something appropriate for the weather - ice cream! Not just any ice cream but vegan, dairy free, gluten free and organic ice cream made by Booja Booja! I've reviewed their Caramel Pecan Praline Ice Cream before and really loved it, so how does this "Hunky Punky Chocolate" variety compare? I found this reduced to £2 at a local market stall which is an absolute steal (it usually costs around £6 at Waitrose) so naturally I stocked up. It's made with a blend of reverse osmosis water (how fancy!), agave syrup (a type of cactus), cashew nuts and cocoa powder. Pretty simple ingredients and no weird fillers or stabilizers - can't get more natural than that! I scooped some into a bowl. It had a nice chocolatey smell and I couldn't wait to get stuck in! It tastes very good indeed, super creamy and chocolatey, with a light sweet edge from the agave syrup. It's certainly on par with...

I've been exploring the dairy free side of life a bit lately, and trying to find some good ice cream alternatives has proved to be a bit of a challenge. Most are based on soya milk or pea protein, which don't sit too well with my tummy, but I had heard good things about Booja Booja's range so thought I'd give them a whirl. They were recently on offer at Waitrose so it seemed like the perfect excuse! I went for the Caramel Pecan Praline variety as it sounded a bit more lively than the Hunky Punky Chocolate tub. And boy I'm glad I did! This is described as "Caramel vanilla dairy free ice cream shmoozled with salted caramel pecan praline sauce (18%) made with cashew nuts" and contains 7 organic ingredients: Water, cashew nuts, coconut syrup, agave syrup, pecan nuts, sea sa...

I've been enjoying exploring the world of vegan and dairy free products recently, although I do still eat dairy I actually prefer some dairy free stuff as it sits more lightly on my stomach, so it's always nice to find new Dairy Free chocolates. They're usually hard to find and generally only available in health food stores, but one product I've always wanted to try but could never really afford were Booja Booja truffles. As many vegans or anyone avoiding dairy knows, they're a little pricey to put it mildly! This particular box usually costs £10-£15 in shops, sometimes more! But I was lucky enough to find it reduced on a local market stall to only £2.85 - what a bargain (I know, I'm a jammy so-and-so!) This was my first experience of Booja Booja chocolates and I have to say I was extremely impressed with the beautiful, hand-painted artists box they come in. They feel truly special and unlike any ordinary box of chocolates...I can see why the price is usual...
