Lusette Wafers & Win a Hamper!

Image
I was recently contacted by Halusky , an import foods company specializing in Czech and Slokak products, who are releasing a new range of wafers called Lusette in the UK. I've seen a lot of their products in local stores before, so I was excited about this, only one problem: I can't eat gluten! So todays review is based on opinions of a friend who tried these wafers on my behalf. Lusette Nougat:  The above pictured bar contains some type of nougat Creme filling, which is slightly chewy and very creamy, working well against the crunchy wafers and creamy milk chocolate. A bit different for a wafer bar and very tasty with a cup of coffee! Lusette Chocolate:  This variety has a very rich and dense chocolate Creme filling, making it very satisfying and almost like a dessert in itself. Very tasty! Again, perfect with coffee. Lusette Platinum:  This wafer contains chopped nuts mixed into the chocolate coating and filling, giving it a lovely crunch and making ...

Nestlé Studentská Strawberry Limited Edition

Image
Being a fan of Nestlé Studentská bars, I had to snap up this strawberry variety when I saw it in an import store recently. It's part of the 2013 limited edition Studentská  flavours range which also includes Blueberry and Redcurrant . My first Studentská review was for the white chocolate variety, which you can check out here . In that review I commented that the chocolate was quite sweet and cheap tasting and that the filling was what really made the bar. It turns out that this is the case for most Studentská bars - the chocolate isn't gourmet by any means, but combined with the unique fillings of crunchy roasted peanuts, dried fruit and fruit jelly pieces, they create a lovely taste experience. This Strawberry variety isn't quite as chunky as a regular Studentská bar, it's somewhat thinner, but is still crammed with plenty of ingredients. I enjoyed the bar with a cup of coffee, which was perfect as the coffee helped the chocolate melt in the mou...

Nestlé Studentská Dark Blackcurrant (Limited Edition)

Image
Here we have the Nestlé Orion Studentská Pecet Dark Blackcurrant. I found this Limited Edition in my local European import store, and there weren't many bars left so I quickly snapped one up . From what I can gather online this bar was only produced for a limited period during 2012, and for 2013 Nestlé are doing a different batch of limited edition Studentská varieties (which I'll be reviewing later). Orion is a Czech Nestlé brand that apparently has a lot of history behind it. Studentská bars are part of that brand and they come in Milk, Dark, Cherry, and White Chocolate versions (I've reviewed the White Chocolate Studentská here ).  This Limited Edition version consists of dark chocolate, blackcurrant jelly pieces, peanuts and raisins. The blocks are very chunky, and several have the Nestlé "heart" logo going across them: I like that it was wrapped in foil and paper rather than plastic like most chocolate bars are these days. It...

Nestlé Orion Studentská White Chocolate

Image
For my second review here we have the Orion brand "Studentská Pečet White", another bar I purchased from my local Polish shop. Hmm I'm starting to sense a theme developing here! :) The white chocolate in this bar wasn't all that great, to be honest, but that didn't matter because it was crammed full of raisins, peanuts and crunchy "jelly-like" orange pieces. As you can see here, the chocolate is quite chunky and has plenty of filling: I really loved the mixture of different textures and flavors in this bar. The peanuts were especially good, giving a nice savoury, salty taste that worked well with the sweet white chocolate. The orange pieces were very nice too, and added a nice fruity zing to the bar. The raisins were also good, and quite large in size. If only the white chocolate itself has been nicer...sadly it was just very sweet and only slightly milky. Still, it was a good carrier for the fruit and nuts. Overall, I thought this was a ver...
