Ritter Sport Chopped Hazelnuts Review

Image
I do love a Ritter Sport bar, and thankfully, they're now becoming more widely available in the UK. I've seen them everywhere recently from the likes of Poundland, Poundworld, WH Smiths, The Co Op, and most main supermarkets too. But on the downside, it seems that Lidl UK have decided to stop stocking large Ritter Sport bars (they confirmed this to me via Twitter), so please go shout at them about it...who knows they may change their mind and start selling them again! Anyway, I found this Ritter Sport Hazelnuts bar in The Co Op for a very reasonable £1. It's one I've seen before but not tried...I've always gone for the whole hazelnuts bars instead. However after reviewing the new Dairy Milk Chopped Nut last week I thought it'd be interesting to see what this one is like in comparison. Like all of the smaller Ritter Sport bars it's a 100g perfectly square block, which is what makes it unique amongst chocolate bars. It's the signature Ritter Spor...

Ritter Sport Baiser Nuss (Meringue Nuts) Review

Image
Many thanks to Monster Sweets for sending me this new bar from Ritter Sports Spring 2014 range to review. It's called "Baiser Nuss" ("Meringue Nuts" in English) and contains roasted hazelnuts and meringue pieces - a different but tasty take on hazelnut chocolate! Removing the wrapper revealed a deliciously rich aroma with some strong woody hazelnut notes. It smelled very inviting indeed! Taking a bite I was first met with the creamy Ritter Sport chocolate. As always it was very rich with a nice level of milkiness, and better quality than the average UK milk chocolate bar. It contains 30% cocoa solids which explains the high quality. The hazelnuts were fresh and crunchy, adding a lovely woody, savoury taste. The meringue pieces were very sweet but worked well with the hazelnuts. It was all very moreish and crunchy and made me think of Ferrero Rocher in bar form! Overall this is yet another delicious variety from Ritter Sport. It's an unusual o...

Bahlsen Choco Leibniz Caramel Butter Biscuits Review

Image
As well as the Bahlsen Pick Up! biscuits I reviewed recently I was also sent some of these Choco Leibniz Caramel to review. I've been wanting to try these for a while since seeing them in shops so am glad to have finally gotten my hands on some! Choco Leibniz are basically German style butter biscuits...or Kekse as they're called in Germany...with a thick layer of milk chocolate on top. In fact they're advertised as having "more chocolate than biscuit" and this is their unique selling point. Eating these biscuits you get the satisfaction of nibbling on a hefty amount of chocolate as well as the delicious buttery biscuit below. Added to that is the luxury of caramel...what better way to enjoy a biscuit?! The pack contains 9 biscuits, and on opening it I was met with a strong delicious chocolatey aroma. It was quite potent compared to the chocolate we usually get on biscuits here in the UK - a lot richer, thanks to the higher percentage of cocoa solids us...

Bahlsen Pick Up! Milk Chocolate Biscuit Bars Review

Image
Bahlsen recently got in touch with me to review some of their Pick Up! biscuits, and of course I couldn't say no to that. I've always been curious about Pick Up! but never bothered trying it since I assumed it was just a plain biscuit bar with a cream filling...but boy was I wrong! Pick Up! actually contains a layer of solid milk chocolate sandwiched in-between the biscuits! I was sent a multipack which contains 5x28g bars. The usual price for the multipacks is £1.69. They're quite similar to the new Dairy Milk with LU & Ritz bars , the difference being that these contain a greater ratio of biscuit, and so will be situated in the biscuit aisle rather than confectionery. Opening the wrapper I was met with a delicious wheaty, chocolatey aroma. It smelled fantastic and had my mouth watering! There's a section in the middle of the biscuit to split in half, and doing so revealed the thick milk chocolate centre. The chocolate smelled very creamy and ...

New! Ritter Sport Caramel Orange: Winter-Kreation 2013 Bar Review

Image
Many thanks to the fantastic Monster Sweets for sending me this Ritter Sport bar to review recently! This is a new addition to Ritter Sport's 2013 Winter Kreations range, which comprises of Caramel Orange, Kokos-macrone (Coconut Macaroon) and Gebrannte Mandel (Caramelized Almonds) . Do take a moment to check out Monster Sweets newly revamped webstore - they stock a lot of hard-to-find European and American snacks at competitive prices, including an extensive variety of Ritter Sport and Milka bars. I highly recommend them for unique and tasty snacks that you won't find anywhere else in the UK! Onto the chocolate then, this Caramel Orange bar had no English writing on the packaging but it roughly translates as "Milk chocolate with caramel and orange flavour cream". I've tried the Ritter Sport Crema Catalana bar before and this Caramel Orange sounded like a very similar proposition, and indeed it was! Infact I would go so far as saying it's  better...
