Muller Light Carrot Cake Limited Edition

Image
I'm not usually one to eat yoghurt, never mind light yoghurts, but on this occasion this new Muller Light flavour seemed so intriguing I had to give it a whirl. Carrot cake is one of the best types of cakes out there in my opinion, so how would it translate into yoghurt form? Fat Free and Low Calorie yoghurt form at that?! After all cake isn't a calorie free food (much to the distress of many!) Like all Muller Light's these are good if you're following a Weight Watchers or Slimming World type plan, and are meant as a lighter treat. The yoghurt is sweetened with aspartame and also contains maize starch, flavourings and cinnamon in the ingredients. It's been so long since I ate Muller Light (last time was probably the Muller Light Turkish Delight !) but on the first spoonful I was transported back to my days of eating this stuff when following a weight loss plan many years ago. It's super sweet and artificial, and honestly, the carrot cake flavour is prett...

Nakd Carrot Cake Bar Limited Edition

Image
I've been after this new Limited Edition Nakd bar ever since it came out...sad I know, but I do love me some uniquely flavoured healthy snacks! I've been steadily trying everything Nakd make now for a good while and most of it I've enjoyed, but this new flavour as well as the Peanut Delight and Apricot Crunch have eluded me...it took a trip to one of the larger Asdas in my area to finally obtain one! This cost 75p, which is about standard for a Nakd bar, and was situated in the Free From section alongside the new Peanut Delight (review of that one due shortly!) Sadly they didn't have Apricot Crunch...boo :( It's vegan, gluten free, vegetarian, 1 of your 5 a day, contains no added sugars and is completely raw. The specific ingredients comprise of dates, walnuts, raisins, almonds, cashews, carrots, cinnamon and a hint of natural flavouring; pretty much all the things that make carrot cake unique. For once the cashews were lower on the list at 5%, with the walnuts...

Perfect World A Taste of Carrot Cake Ice Cream

Image
I loooove carrot cake, but sadly I haven't eaten a lot of it since I went gluten-free. Most supermarkets do gluten-free versions but I find them rather dry and am often left disappointed. Boo! So when I saw this new ice cream from Perfect World in Tesco recently I got rather excited; carrot cake combined with ice cream sounds like it might potentially solve the dryness issue! Alas, this Ice Cream doesn't contain any pieces of carrot cake, but it does have a whole lot of other good things going for it. It's dairy free (but not egg-free, so isn't suitable for vegans, sadly), it contains no added sugar; it's made with a mixture of xylitol, erythyritol and stevia instead. It's also high in vitamin A, Vegetarian Society Approved and suitable for diabetics. That's pretty good going...who knew ice cream could be nutritious?! The description reads "A non-dairy carrot cake flavoured frozen dessert with sultanas (6%), walnuts (4%) and sweeteners"...

Hotel Chocolat Carrot Cake Chocolates Review

Image
Whilst in Hotel Chocolat recently I noticed they had several new products as part of their summer range. As always I wanted to try them all, but with the selector offer I limited myself to three (very difficult!) The most unique were these carrot cake chocolates, described as "carrot ganache layered with a walnut, hazelnut, cinnamon and nutmeg praline sealed in a milk and white chocolate vanilla seed shell, decorated with naturally coloured white chocolate". At this point everyone's probably thinking "carrot ganache?!"....surely vegetables and chocolate don't mix? Well, they actually do and very successfully! According to the pack, Britain first embraced the carrot cake during wartime rationing, and it's now loved more than ever. I have to say I'm very partial to a good carrot cake...it's the one cake I'd break any diet for. Do these chocolates live up to the much-loved British treat? Well, yes and no. They're a different beast and...
