Butterkist Coconut & Raspberry Flavour Popcorn

When my blogger pal One Treat posted a pic of this new Butterkist flavour on Instagram recently it was something I had to seek out...I love anything coconutty, but pairing such a flavour with raspberry sounded lush. I eventually found it in Asda for 79p on offer...bargain!

Like all Butterkist popcorn it's gluten free and suitable for vegetarians. It contains 106 calories, 2.3g Fat, 20g Carbohydrates and 0.8g Protein per 25g serving.

I started off by pouring most of the bag into a bowl, so I could nibble on it whilst doing household chores. It didn't smell particularly coconutty, it just had a vague raspberry aroma.

Naturally, I had to get The Hand in my pictures for the fans (just Nibbles & Scribbles and Reaching For Refreshment, then!)...

Well, all I can say is where is the coconut?! This popcorn tasted nothing like coconut at all, all I could taste was an odd flavour that wasn't really raspberry and wasn't really coconut...it just tasted artificial. I kept eating, in the hopes that some of the real flavouring had got lost at the bottom of the bowl, but no...it still tasted the same. What's puzzling is that the bag states there are no artificial colours or flavours...but it does list "flavouring" in the ingredients. I can only assume that this "flavouring" is a fart from a coconut...

Overall, as fancy as this new flavour sounds it's a real let down. I don't see why they couldn't have thrown in some real coconut and dried raspberry pieces to make it more authentic...the new Tesco Finest Popcorn range includes such natural flavourings and is all the more tasty for it!

Stay tuned for a review of Butterkist Choc Mallow...and in the meantime check out my review of Butterkist Salted Caramel.

6 out of 10.
