Ben and Jerry's One Sweet World Ice Cream Review

There's been a lot of Special Edition Ben and Jerry's varieties out recently in the UK...from Empower Mint, One Love, Totally Couch, Sofa So Good, and that's not to mention the seasonal Limited Editions like Minter Wonderland and Save Our Swirled. It's enough to make you dizzy...and eat a tub of ice cream to cope with the stress of it all! ;)

One variety I was very excited by was this One Sweet World Special Edition: it contains "coffee caramel ice cream with swirls of marshmallow and salted caramel and chocolatey chunks". There it is again...that elusive salted caramel that is being added to every product in existence right now!

This tub cost me £4 at Tesco as it wasn't on the usual half price offer, but I didn't mind since I was so eager to try it. It's suitable for vegetarians, gluten free and fair trade too. Money from sales of this variety goes towards funding community projects in Europe, hence the name.

Opening the lid it had a pleasant milky coffee aroma, and looked like the perfect slightly melted consistency to tuck in straight away.

I scooped a generous amount into a bowl...there were chocolatey chunks clearly visible, as well as the marshmallow and salted caramel swirls.

Salted caramel!
Taking a mouthful, I first noticed the sweet coffee flavour...it was mild and milky, but for an ice cream the flavour was just right. Sometimes coffee can taste a little harsh when paired with ice cream but here it's blended perfectly with the cream. The salted caramel brought some welcoming buttery goodness, and when I could find pockets of it, the marsmallow brought a lovely sweet mallow flavour. Finishing it all off were the chocolatey "&" pieces, giving a nice cocoa crunch to break up all the sweetness.

Overall, this is defnitely one sweet ice cream, they've got the name spot on! Whilst it is mostly varying sweet flavours, it never feels one dimensional and all of the different elements bring a unique flavour and texture to the tub. The coffee ice cream is the perfect backdrop for it all, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these again if I see it on offer. It's a nice variation on similar Ben and Jerry's combos like Phish Phood.
