Snack Reviews Pick & Mix

Image
I thought it'd be fun to compile some of the latest snacks I've been reviewing over on Instagram into one post here...enjoy!  KitKat Snack 'It: An Australian concoction, these are a mixture of KitKat Bites, pretzels, popcorn and almonds. A nice mix of sweet and savoury that works rather well! Great for the cinema. I got them from Gb Gifts website (code Kevs10 gets a 10% discount). Nestle Nuts White Chocolate: A white chocolate limited edition is always worth trying, and this Russian variety of Nestle Nuts is interesting for sure...not the best quality white chocolate which is a shame but it's nice to try a milkier version of the classic nougat, hazelnut and caramel bar. Also from Gb Gifts . Cadbury Clinkers: Another treat from Gb Gifts I got were these Cadbury Clinkers, which are crunchy honeycomb like candy sweets coated in Cadbury chocolate. They're an Australian classic and quite tasty and fun, despite sounding sickly! Fruittella Gelatine Fr...

Kitkat Chocolatory Springtime in Japan Review

Image
You may have heard in the news recently that KitKat Chocolatory has been launched in the UK - it's a service where you can create your own KitKat bar with different chocolates and fillings, or choose ready made creations. The service is available in selected John Lewis stores as well as York's Chocolate Story, but will soon be more widely available to buy online too! I was very lucky to receive some samples recently from KitKat Chocolatory - thanks so much guys! There's some interesting flavours and varieties like Billionares Caramel, Gin and Tonic and more...but today lets start with the Springtime in Japan variety, which consists of 6 wafers coated in Ruby Chocolate, filled with an apple and cherry jam and cherry pieces. It's inspired by the beautiful springtime in Japan. Now I'm not a huge fan of Ruby Chocolate, I've had mixed experiences of tasting it thus far so wasn't the most excited about this, however I have to admit it looks very pretty inde...

Cadbury Darkmilk, Bournville Orange, Lindor Mint etc (Spotted In Shops)

Image
It's that time of year when all the new products are being launched - hurrah! Let's celebrate with another Spotted In Shops post... First up is the above bar of Bournville Orange Dark Chocolate which I spotted in Iceland Foods. It costs £1, is Dairy Free and has a "New Old!" label on...because this isn't the first time Cadbury have made this bar. It was around many years ago (2009!) along with an Old Jamaica Bournville , just before Cadbury were taken over by Kraft.  Other new developments from Cadbury are their Darkmilk range; a rich and creamy chocolate with a higher percentage of cocoa than Dairy Milk (but still containing milk, obviously). Currently available for £1 from Tesco in an Original variety... Plus Roasted Almond. Does this sound like your kind of thing? Let me know in the comments! A rather strange product Cadbury have launched is this Sweet Shop style bag of chocolates, that includes Dairy Milk, Caramel, Fudge and E...

Kitkat Chunky Salted Caramel Fudge Review

Image
It's taken them a while, but finally Nestle have come to their senses and released a Salted Caramel Kitkat variety. Hurrah right?! It's a shame they won't bring back the Kitkat Caramac from years ago (Australia are now lucky enough to get a Kitkat Gold which is pretty similar!), but I'm sure we can make do with this instead. Available from Sainsbury's for 50p, this presumably replaces the New York Cheesecake Kitkat Chunky from last year and is described as "Crispy wafer finger with a salted caramel fudge flavoured topping covered in milk chocolate". Now, as everyone knows I can't eat gluten, so I gave this to a friend to let me know his thoughts. Opening the wrapper, there's a very powerful and overwhelming aroma of caramel. Splitting the chunks apart, the salted caramel fudge layer is visible just above the wafer and is somewhat like a paste. How does it taste? Well according to my friend "it's very sweet, with a strong b...

Kitkat Ruby is here (UK)!

Image
Just a quick heads up...Kitkat Ruby has now arrived on UK shelves, in Tesco! I spotted this bar for 85p in Tesco Express in the chocolate bars section. It should be available in all stores within the next week or so. Happy hunting! If you try this bar please do let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Nestle Ruby Kitkat to launch in the UK!

Image
Good news snack lovers, Nestle are going to launch their much-hyped Ruby Kitkats in the UK - hurrah! The Kitkats, first launched in China last year are made with naturally pink-coloured Ruby cocoa beans and will go on sale in Tesco in four finger bars. The specially coloured beans are grown in the Ivory Coast, Ecuador and Brazil and promise "an intense fruity taste". The chocolate was created by Swiss chocolatier Barry Callebaut - the world’s largest cocoa processor. Nestle are calling Ruby Chocolate a "fourth chocolate", after traditional Milk, Dark and White. It's the first new natural colour for chocolate since Nestlé unveiled white chocolate more than 80 years ago. The Kitkats will go on sale in the US and Europe following the UK launch. Wow - must be the first time we are getting a product launched here before other countries! Do you fancy the look of the Ruby Kitkat? Have you seen it in shops yet? Let me know in the comments below!
