Whilst in Poundstretcher recently I couldn't help but notice a plethora of imported chocolates, from the likes of Marabou with Oreo , Marabou with Saltlakrits (Salty Liquorice) and these...Limited Edition Orange flavour Daim Minis. They were £2.99 a bag which I felt was a bit pricey, but I caved in and got them anyway. I had to...they're a limited edition! Mondelez have had a track record for messing up some of our beloved UK products, but thankfully it seems their meddling hasn't extended to their classic Swedish brand Daim (yet!). These bars contain 30% cocoa chocolate, and are described as "smooth orange flavoured milk chocolates with a surprisingly crunchy almond centre". They're suitable for vegetarians and gluten free. They tasted like the offspring of a Terry's Chocolate Orange and a Daim Bar...which is a good thing! The chocolate is pretty much the exact same sweet, orangey flavour as Chocolate Orange (before they made the recipe waxy...

When I saw this pack of "Choccers" in Poundland recently I must admit I had to do a double take...at first I thought they were a new variety of M&Ms: the packaging is practically identical. Then after reading the packet I realized they're not associated with Mars at all - they're made by a Spanish company for Sweet Heaven. I'm not sure how Poundland can get away with selling such a blatant copycat product, especially considering the dispute between Mars and Mondelez in Sweden recently (Mars are blocked from selling M&Ms in Sweden, as Mondelez sell a similar product called Marabou M's ). But they're selling these regardless, costing £1 as you might guess, and they're described as "couverture chocolate in a crisp colored shell". Opening the pack, they all looked the same as M&Ms with their bright colours. I poured them into my fancy new star dish from Home Bargains. Taste-wise they were...a bit eh. Super sugary becau...

Whilst in Ikea recently I was determined to sample a Swedish snack of some sort. Since they no longer sell Marabou chocolates, all that was left were Mini Daim bars or these bags of "Godis Chokladägg" mini eggs, which contain a smooth butterscotch filling with caramel pieces. I also really liked the chicken design on the bag...it's simple and basic, but it works. Let's call her the "Ikea Hen"! I've run "Godis Chokladägg" through google translate and all it came up with was "candy chokadagg". Presumably it means candy eggs...if any of my Swedish readers can translate better please do leave a comment! The eggs cost £1.99 for 200g which I thought was pretty good value. All are foil-wrapped in various colours. Unwrapping one, it had a pleasant chocolate aroma with hint of butterscotch. The chocolate tasted sweet and very basic, almost like Tesco Value chocolate. As I'm going to be away over the Christmas period this will be my last review for a little while (I know... boo hoo, right!), but hopefully you'll be seeing these bars featured in a new Youtube video from a certain Mr Choc It Out! over the festive period... They're Swedish in origin - Marabou is a very well-known brand over there and I'm guessing it's the equivalent of our Cadbury's Dairy Milk, in fact it's owned by Kraft Foods who own all the big brands nowadays so there you go! Whilst in a discount store recently I spotted these "M's", described as "Milk chocolate coated peanuts". They're made by Marabou, a Kraft-owned Swedish brand that are apparently quite popular in their native country. Infact there's been a legal case between Mars and Kraft/Mondelez over the trademark for these due to their obvious similarity to Mars Foods M&M's. I wouldn't usually buy such a product, but they were very cheap and are made by Marabou (whose Salty Licorice Bar I've reviewed previously ), plus I was curious to see how they'd compare to M&M's. The main big difference is that they don't have coloured shells like M&M's, just a boring shade of dark brown: They were very pale...

Call me crazy, but when I saw this bar of Licorice chocolate on ebay recently I just had to give it a try. It sounded so odd, crazy and weird but also....potentially nice? That's what I was hoping anyway! Marabou is a famous Swedish chocolate brand that was founded by a Norwegian chocolatier in 1968, and is now owned by Kraft Foods. The bars were available from Ikea up until 2011 in the UK, which is an unfortunate loss because they're very tasty chocolates. This particular bar contains milk chocolate (30% cocoa solids) with chips of salty licorice, or "saltlakrits" embedded within. I'm a fan of regular sweet licorice so naievely thought this might taste similar, however I didn't realize just how different salty licorice would be!  The licorice chips were  very salty and pungent, so much so that I initially felt like spitting the chocolate in the bin! Cadbury's Egg 'N' Spoon has been reviewed by most of my fellow bloggers by now, but I thought I would do my own review because despite being quite skeptical of them initially, I ended up really enjoying them! Firstly, you must check out this hilarious review of them by Gobble Monkey if you haven't done so already, it's comedy genius! Part of the reason I was so skeptical of these was the price. The RRP is £3.99, which works out at about £1 per egg! Crazy! Luckily most shops are now selling them for the more reasonable price of £2, which is what these were at Morrisons. I chose the milky mousse variety over the chocolate as I thought it'd be more interesting. I have to say...this is a genius marketing idea from Cadbury/Mondelez.
