Tesco Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate Review

When I spotted this new Peanut Butter chocolate bar in Tesco I just couldn't resist giving it a try. I've always bemoaned the lack of peanut butter chocolates in the UK, we only seem to get Reese's products and that's about it. The trend may be starting to catch on though...

Unfortunately if this offering from Tesco is anything to go by, I can't see the trend lasting! As peanut butter chocolates go this one was pretty bad.

Opening the wrapper I was met with a faint peanutty aroma and sweet milk chocolate. The blocks are quite chunky, and you get a decent amount for your money. I cut through a few pieces so you can see the filling - it's like a smooth paste, and takes up most of the blocks.

Tasting a piece, I was met with a salty, savoury flavour that didn't taste much of peanut, but more like a peanut-flavoured salty cream. It wasn't very pleasant and it didn't really go with the milk chocolate. The chocolate itself was very sugary and cheap-tasting, which didn't help!

Overall, as good as this bar may sound on paper, it's a poor offering from Tesco for a peanut butter chocolate. I don't know how they managed to get it so wrong to be honest! Stick to Reese's folks!

RATING: 5 out of 10.

  1. How gutting! I will, of course, have to try it myself...just to make sure ;)

  2. Buy a bar of your favourite milk chocolate and spread peanut butter on it!

  3. There is just something special about Reese's. Even in America, where we truly love a good PB & chocolate combo, the king remains Reese's! Too bad Tesco fobbed it so much, but I'm glad that they at least attempted something a bit more risky.
