Cadbury Screme Egg Pots of Joy with Green Goooo

Image
When I first saw these new Screme Egg Pots of Joy I wasn't going to bother trying them...I assumed they'd just be sugar bombs, considering how sweet an actual Screme Egg is. But in the name of Snacks Research I have relented (Asda's offer of £1 a pack may have had something to do with it!) These are limited edition for the Halloween period, and are described as "smooth and creamy dessert made with melted Cadbury milk chocolate with a fondant layer". They're not vegetarian friendly unfortunately, but they are gluten free. There's 164 calories per pot, 7.6g fat, 21.4g carbohydrates and 2.4g protein. Opening the lid of one, I found the dessert had spoldged into one side of the pot. Taking a spoonful, there was a layer of pale green fondant above a white dessert layer. These are definitely not scary at all...I was expecting a luminous, slime green colour! They tasted delicious...I'm not sure if the white layer is meant to be fonda...

Cadbury Strawberries & Creme Pots of Joy (Limited Edition)

Image
I was rather excited when I first saw these new Strawberries & Creme Pots of Joy, I used to enjoy the Dairy Milk Strawberries & Creme bar Cadbury started doing a few years back every Summer. But after trying these, I realised I've essentially already had them before...they're pretty much the same thing as the Cadbury Roses Strawberry Dream Pots of Joy Cadbury did a few years back, and which I've reviewed. So does this rebranded version differ at all? Let's find out! These do actually seem a tad different from the Roses Strawberry Dream Pots of Joy, rather than just having one layer of fondant, they have a layer of strawberry fondant as well as a layer of plain fondant. Also these contain "melted Cadbury milk chocolate" rather than Dairy Milk, so they're not quite the same as the Strawberries & Creme Dairy Milk bar either. They tasted very nice, chocolatey and sweet with a decent strawberry fondant flavour and made for a good dessert aft...

Cadbury Roses Pots of Joy Coffee Escape (Limited Edition)

Image
I've not been a huge fan of the limited edition Pots of Joy Mondelez/Cadbury have been doing lately. The Roses strawberry cream one was a bit too sweet, the Hazel Whirl wasn't very nice, and they even got the Terry's Chocolate Orange one wrong. Nevertheless I had to give this limited edition Coffee Escape flavour a try since I loooove coffee! Like all Pots of Joy it comes in tiny pots, meaning most people will probably eat two in one go! It's described as "smooth and creamy dessert made with melted Cadbury milk chocolate with a layer of coffee fondant", and I paid £1.29 for a twin pack at Morrisons.   I was surprised to find I actually rather enjoyed this dessert. The coffee fondant was neither too weak or strong, and balanced out the sweeter chocolate layer nicely. It was a bit too sweet overall, but still nicer than some coffee desserts. Overall, if you're a fan of coffee you might want to try this, although I do think a good old ...

Cadbury Roses Pots of Joy Hazel Whirl Review

Image
I first mentioned these Hazel Whirl Pots of Joy in a Spotted In Shops feature and initially wasnt too fussed on trying them. But as I saw them discounted in the Co-Op recently I thought "why not give them a (hazel) whirl?" (har har). I'm not usually a fan of hazelnut desserts or yoghurts, so wasn't expecting to love these from the get-go. Like all Pots of Joy they contain a layer made with melted Cadbury chocolate, as well as hazelnut fondant and a centre of chopped hazelnuts. Like the other Pots of Joy they also come in dinky little pots, which I find rather frustrating as once you've eaten one you immediately want to eat the next! Anyone who believes in "portion control" is kidding themselves ;) I didn't really enjoy them to be honest. The smooth chocolate layer was nice, and they had a decent amount of chopped hazelnuts, but the whole thing turned into a kind of gloopy mess and the hazelnut flavour wasn't strong enough for my li...

Terry's Chocolate Orange Pots of Joy Review

Image
Mondelez are cranking out new products at alarming speed right now, and the latest to join their ever-swelling range are these Terry's Chocolate Orange Pots of Joy. "Pots of Joy" are usually associated with Cadbury's, but since Mondelez also own Terry's it seems they've deemed it OK to add these to the range too. They're described as "Smooth and creamy desserts made with melted milk chocolate with a rich orange flavour under-layer" and are currently on offer for £1 at Asda. Like all Pots of Joy they're rather dinky little pots, so it's likely most people will eat two at once. Unless you're a hamster I suppose... The chocolate upper layer tasted creamy and very smooth, although I would've liked more chocolate flavour. The orange layer however was a letdown...it just didn't taste right. It was too citrusy and sickly, and as a layer by itself just doesn't work. I don't really get why it's seperated fr...

Spotted In Shops! - Tango Jaffa Cakes, Pots of Joy Hazel Whirl, Skittles Berry Milkshakes, Panda Squash, etc...

Image
Here's some new and limited edition products I've spotted in supermarkets recently... Cadbury Roses Pots of Joy Hazel Whirl Following on from Roses Strawberry Dream Pots of Joy , Cadbury have now added this new Hazel Whirl variety to the range. Only available in 4 packs so far. Spotted in Tesco. Tango Jaffa Cakes Tango Jaffa Cakes! These are made by Huntley & Palmers who have quite a bit of history as a biscuit manufacturer, and contain an orange Tango filling coated in dark chocolate. I wonder how they compare to McVitie's Jaffa Cakes? Spotted in Home Bargains. Skittles Wild Berry Milkhake Last year I reviewed the regular Skittles Milk Shake and now they've brought out this Wild Berry variant...I didn't realize fruity milk drinks were so popular! Spotted at Tesco.  Nestlé Aero Bubbly White Biscuits: Nestlé are expanding their " Bubbly White " Aero even further with the release of these Bubbly White biscuits. The...

Cadbury Roses Pots of Joy Strawberry Dream Review

Image
Whilst in Morrisons over the weekend I spotted these new Cadbury Roses Pots of Joy. I couldn't quite believe it - this is the first time Cadbury have used the Strawberry Dream from Roses in a different product! They're described as "A layer of smooth & creamy dessert with melted Cadbury milk chocolate and a layer of Strawberry flavour fondant". The pack contained 2 pots with foil lids. Peeling the lid off one revealed an upper chocolate layer with a larger amount of strawberry fondant below: The chocolate layer tasted similar to Dairy Milk Pots of Joy - very creamy and smooth, but perhaps a tad sweeter. The fondant layer had a strong strawberry flavour which replicated the filling from Roses Strawberry Dream very well - meaning it's very sweet! It also reminded me of the Dairy Milk Strawberries & Creme bars from last Summer - slightly yogurty. The combination was very nice and made for a lovely sweet treat, although it was a bit of a sugar...

Cadbury Creme Egg Pots of Joy Review

Image
I was really surprised to spot these new Cadbury Creme Egg Pots of Joy in Sainsbury's recently as I wasn't expecting them at all - there's been no press-release whatsoever. I've heard plenty about the new Cadbury Creme Egg Biscuits , though; do check out Foodstuff Finds review of those! These are a bit of a different prospect - they're described as "2 x smooth and creamy desserts made with melted Cadbury milk chocolate with a fondant layer". Of course they wouldn't be creme egg without the famous white and yellow fondant, and here it is in all its gooey glory!: Taste-wise they were kind of as you would expect - smooth and chocolatey with an added hit of sweet fondant from the creme egg layer. It was creamy and of course very sweet, but that's not such a bad thing when it comes to creme egg - half of the "joy" is in the sugar rush! Overall, if you're a fan of Cadbury creme eggs then these are a nice Easter novelty. I ima...

Cadbury Pots of Joy - White Chocolate Buttons Review

Image
After reading Grocery Gems review of these new Pots of Joy I've been on the hunt for them ever since. I found the twin packs in the Co-Op, but for some odd reason they didn't have any of the white chocolate buttons variety - the ones I wanted to try the most! So I bided my time, and it's just as well I did because I found them on offer in Asda a few days later at £1 for a 4 pack! Bargain! I bought these and the caramel variety. One thing I wasn't quite expecting, despite reading Grocery Gems' reviews, was just how  small  they would be. There wasn't much more than two spoonfuls in a pot! Before I knew it I'd eaten it all and had to break into a second pot to feel like I'd eaten something (I'm sure this is a trick to get people to consume more!). Taste-wise they were very creamy and smooth, and being white chocolate flavoured they were also quite sweet. A little bit too sweet for me, infact. The white chocolate flavour was nice but I tho...
