Skittles Smoothies Review

Image
This seems to be the year for new Skittles flavours, and as well as the Skittles Dips Yoghurty Coated launched in Asda recently there’s also this new Skittles Smoothies Limited Edition. They're described as fruit and yoghurt flavoured Skittles and come in banana, pineapple, apricot, raspberry and blueberry flavours. They’re £1 a pack currently in Asda stores only. To be honest there’s not a great deal to say about them. They’re alright - they’re slightly creamier and less tangy than standard Skittles but aren’t quite milky or creamy enough to be called smoothie in my opinion. It’s nice to have some different flavours like banana, pineapple etc though. Overall, not a bad attempt and it’s nice to have some variation in Skittles varieties, but the Yoghurty Coated Dips are far more interesting than these.

Skittles Dips Yoghurty Coated

Image
This is shaping up to be quite a packed year in terms of new product releases thus far; we've had various new cookie and ice cream varieties, various Cadbury products (including the new Choose a Flavour vote), Dark Milk Galaxy bars and now these...Skittles Dips! I had heard rumours about these some time ago and that they would be white chocolate coated, but it seems something must have changed along the way and they went with yoghurt instead. Perhaps a wise choice as white chocolate mixed with Skittles would be just a bit too sickly! These are simply regular fruity Skittles with a yoghurt flavour coating and are available in Asda stores for £1. The yoghurt coating is pretty thick, moreso than I was expecting and has a familiar sweet yoghurt aroma. I was expecting these to be awful if I'm honest, but to my surprise they weren't too bad! They're not quite as tangy as expected, which is a good thing, they're more of a sweet yoghurt "flavoured...

Skittles Cooler Ice Creams

Image
I must admit when I first heard about these new Skittles Cooler ice creams being launched I was a little skeptical. They sounded a bit sickly and I just couldn’t imagine Skittles of all sweets working as an ice cream. Boy was I proven wrong! I spotted these for £3 for three sticks whilst in Tesco - who have loads of new ice creams in at the moment such as Tesco Rainbow Cones and Kinder Bueno Cones - and straight in my basket they went. They’re fruit flavoured ice creams with crunchy skittle pieces mixed in, covered in a strawberry coating. They look a bit like a Solero and that’s the general idea of the coating - a sorbet like fruit pulp mixture. It’s pretty tasty and a good start to the fruity sweetness that lies below... Yes, not only is the actual ice cream fruit flavoured but also it contains little crunchy Skittle pieces! They were in different colours of course and look super cool embedded in the ice cream. And they really make it something unique - the ice cream itself h...

Image
Just a quick run down of some recent Spotted In Shops finds this week...there's so many new products out it's hard to keep track, but rest assured I'll be doing the yearly Christmas & Halloween In Shops roundups soon! Firstly (above), this  made the rounds in the News  recently, it is of course Christmas Tree flavour crisps, available at Iceland! Would you try them? I haven't. Secondly - the fantastic sounding new Bailey's Chocolate Yule Log, available at Tesco. Yummo! In other weird crisp flavours, Gin has found its way onto crisps too. Waitrose are doing Pink Peppercorn Gin Hand Cooked Crisps! Bailey's Pumpkin Spice is back! Available at Tesco for £12. Or if you want a cheaper version, Aldi are now doing Specially Selected Pumpkin Spice Irish Cream Liquer for £6.99. Nestle Smarties Limited Edition Rudolph's Noses - red-only Smarties, exclusive to Asda for £1. Ed's Easy Diner is now in the freez...

White Skittles Limited Edition

Image
I don't really know where to start with my thoughts about these new Limited Edition White Skittles Fruits. You wouldn't think there'd be much to say about sweets that have simply removed the colourings, but apparently there is. They've been launched to support Gay Pride this Summer, stating "only one rainbow matters this Pride. Give the rainbow, taste the rainbow". The implication is that they've removed their traditional rainbow colours so that the Pride rainbow can shine instead. Oh, thanks for your kindness, Skittles! #onerainbow This is supporting a great cause, but couldn't they have thought of a better way to do it?! Making Skittles all white to support gay pride is just silly. Surely we should be celebrating the rainbow in all of its colourful glory? How does making them all white create any sense of pride? The fact they need a convoluted explanation for it just shows what a silly idea it is.  That aside, I will admit that it wa...

Revels Creamy Toffee Milkshake Review

Image
Mars UK have merged a lot of their confectionery brands into milkshakes over the last year or so, most notably Skittles ( which I reviewed here ), but also Bounty, Snickers, and now Revels too! Revels is an odd choice since there is no "distinctive" Revels variety, and for this milkshake they've chosen "The Toffee one", which is even odder since they already do a "Mars Caramel" milkshake. Do we really need two different toffee/caramel style shakes from the same company? Going by the taste of this I would say the answer is "No!". This shake really doesn't add anything new to the category at all, it's simply a very basic sweet toffee milkshake. It wasn't particularly flavoursome or great quality, and definitely not as good as Frijj milkshakes. Overall, I can't recommend this, it just seems pointless when there's so many other better milk drinks out there. Maybe they should have done a "salted caramel" var...

Spotted In Shops! - Tango Jaffa Cakes, Pots of Joy Hazel Whirl, Skittles Berry Milkshakes, Panda Squash, etc...

Here's some new and limited edition products I've spotted in supermarkets recently... Cadbury Roses Pots of Joy Hazel Whirl Following on from Roses Strawberry Dream Pots of Joy , Cadbury have now added this new Hazel Whirl variety to the range. Only available in 4 packs so far. Spotted in Tesco. Tango Jaffa Cakes Tango Jaffa Cakes! These are made by Huntley & Palmers who have quite a bit of history as a biscuit manufacturer, and contain an orange Tango filling coated in dark chocolate. I wonder how they compare to McVitie's Jaffa Cakes? Spotted in Home Bargains. Skittles Wild Berry Milkhake Last year I reviewed the regular Skittles Milk Shake and now they've brought out this Wild Berry variant...I didn't realize fruity milk drinks were so popular! Spotted at Tesco.  Nestlé Aero Bubbly White Biscuits: Nestlé are expanding their " Bubbly White " Aero even further with the release of these Bubbly White biscuits. The...
