Tyrrell's Aphrodisiac Honey & Chilli Valentines Crisps

Image
It's nearly Valentines Day and things are heating up...at least they are with Tyrrell's, makers of Hand Cooked English crisps! They're doing a special limited edition Honey and Chilli Aphrodisiac variety, which they kindly sent me some samples of to review just in time for the day of luuurve. From the pack: "Spice up your Valentine's and tantalise your taste buds with this sumptuous duo. When the mellow sweet and sticky honey met the fiery spice of chilli...it was love at first bite!" Ooh-er missus! I tipped the crisps onto my special heart-shaped plate (bought from Poundland!) and they had a fiery reddish hue to them. The spicy aroma of chilli was very apparent. I like to think the crisp above has a heart in the middle...but it was probably a lucky accident! So do the crisps live up to their aphrodisiac name? Well, yes kind of! The first flavour that hits you is a gentle sweetness followed by a stronger spicy chilli flavour, and then the mell...

Just a quick run down of some recent Spotted In Shops finds this week...there's so many new products out it's hard to keep track, but rest assured I'll be doing the yearly Christmas & Halloween In Shops roundups soon! Firstly (above), this  made the rounds in the News  recently, it is of course Christmas Tree flavour crisps, available at Iceland! Would you try them? I haven't. Secondly - the fantastic sounding new Bailey's Chocolate Yule Log, available at Tesco. Yummo! In other weird crisp flavours, Gin has found its way onto crisps too. Waitrose are doing Pink Peppercorn Gin Hand Cooked Crisps! Bailey's Pumpkin Spice is back! Available at Tesco for £12. Or if you want a cheaper version, Aldi are now doing Specially Selected Pumpkin Spice Irish Cream Liquer for £6.99. Nestle Smarties Limited Edition Rudolph's Noses - red-only Smarties, exclusive to Asda for £1. Ed's Easy Diner is now in the freez...

Tyrrell's My Sweet Potato Sea Salted Crisps

Image
Sweet Potato is one of the latest health trends to become mainstream, there's sweet potato versions of many classic potato products now, from baked sweet potatoes, sweet potato fries, sweet potato mash, and a lot more besides. But now they're also invading the crisps world, with Tyrrell's launching their version called "my sweet potato". Cute! I chose the Lightly Salted variety in Morrisons recently, which cost £1.50 on special offer and is free from additives, gluten free and suitable for vegans and vegetarians. In fact unless you're allergic to sweet potato, sunflower oil or sea salt there's no allergens at all! These are for you my sweet potato... To fit the "my sweet potato" theme, there's some comedic messages on the pack from a husband to his wife: Hope you're not saying I'm a knobbly old thing... There's even a poem: "My darling, my sweet, with your striking orange complexion, like sunshine through Aut...

Tyrrell's Poshcorn Bellini Cocktail

Image
When I was informed via Instagram about this new variety of Tyrrell's Poshcorn recently, I just had to try it (I'm like that with new snacks haha!) so I hotfooted it down to WH Smiths. It costs £1 a bag and is gluten free, and also suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Alcoholic flavoured snacks seem to be the "in thing" at the moment, what with M&S doing Bucks Fizz flavoured crisps (review due shortly!), Aldi doing Gin & Tonic crisps, and not to mention the various mojito inspired popcorn varieties. So how does Tyrrell's fare? The popcorn is described as tasting of "peachy fizz", which is what a Bellini Cocktail tastes like. Apparently. I wouldn't know as I'm not really a cocktail man! I poured the whole bag into a bowl, knowing that most of the flavour usually resides at the bottom. The popcorn definitely had a fizzy taste, almost like sherbet, but there was also an odd vinegary tang to it. I have no idea if this is what ...
