Asda Raspberry Flavour Unicorn Spread

Image
As annoying as the Unicorn trend is becoming (let it rest, it’s had it’s day!) I did get quite excited when I found out Asda have a new raspberry flavour “Unicorn” spread out. Simply because it’s such a novelty, and contains popping candy! I had totally forgotten however that I reviewed a product like this back in 2015 which was Winsenia Raspberry Spread that was available in Aldi at the time. Costing £1.50, and simply described as “raspberry flavour Unicorn spread with popping candy pieces” this is indeed very similar to the spread I tried from Aldi back in 2015. It doesn’t contain white chocolate, and only the popping candy contains cocoa butter in the ingredients. It consists of a mixture of sugar, oil, milk powder, buttermilk powder etc.     It’s nice and gloopy with the popping candy pieces just visible in the pink mixture. Just the right texture to spread...which I did on rice cakes (I know, boring, but I like them ok!) The spread has a strong raspbe...

Cadbury Dairy Milk The Raspberry Shortcake Review

Image
As I mentioned in my review of the new Cadbury Dairy Milk Choca-Latte bar, Cadbury UK have gone and released three new flavours of which you can vote for to keep your favourite one. Peoples responses on Instagram have been mixed so it'll certainly be interesting to see which wins, but I've seen a lot of love for both the Latte and Raspberry flavours so far. So which did I prefer? Well, as nice as the Choca Latte was and it's great having a coffee flavour Dairy Milk bar, it lacks that certain something to make it worthy of staying in my opinion. I thought this Raspberry Shortcake variety was better, even if it's a more simple combination - sometimes simple things are better! This reminded me a little of the Dairy Milk with Shortcake pieces, that was delicious, available in the early 2000's, and annoyingly discontinued! - The shortcake bits are similar and very plentiful in this bar, with the dried raspberry bits giving an interesting contrast. It also conta...

Graham’s Dairy White Chocolate Raspberry Ripple Ice Cream

Image
Following my review of the Graham’s Dairy Espresso Caramel Low calorie ice cream today’s is for their White Chocolate and Raspberry Ripple tub, another low calorie high protein variety now available at Lidl stores for £2.99. This is White chocolate ice cream with a raspberry ripple sauce and contains 350 calories in the whole tub, with 20g of protein. It’s also a source of fibre. Even though this is a lower calorie ice cream I didn’t really think about that while eating it. It looks and tastes like a regular creamy tub of ice cream and has no thin consistency like some others do. This tastes fantastic and is probably my second favourite after the Espresso Caramel tub. It’s super creamy with a strong taste of white chocolate, and with a light texture that isn’t quite as heavy as ice cream like Haagen Dazs, but still tastes luxurious. I’m not sure how they do it...the ingredients do have added fibre and sweeteners to lower the sugar content so I’m guessing that must be it. T...

Charlene's Chocolate Factory Raspberry Dark Chocolate

Image
Today's review is the last bar I was sent from the lovely Charlene's Chocolate Factory, whose bars I previously reviewed included  Bubblebum Blonde chocolate , Mint Choc Chip , Beetroot Chocolate and Coffee Chocolate . Today's is somewhat more "normal" in comparison, but just as tasty as the other bars. Based on the film Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Charlene's Chocolate Factory make unique and colourful bars in a variety of flavours and varieties such as Gin and Tonic, Salt & Pepper Caramel, Cherry Bakewell and even...Rosemary! Yes, they certainly have something for everyone and you can check out their unique range here:  https://www.charleneschocolatefactory.co.uk/   They do a lot of bars suitable for vegans; this one is part of the range and is a blend of dark chocolate with freeze dried raspberries. One side is portioned into blocks whilst the other is flatter and patterned.  It tastes lovely; the dark chocolate is just the right level of r...

Co Op Truly Irresistible Dark Chocolate with Raspberry

Image
I do love The Co Op. They're always bringing out new and interesting products, such as the Rhubarb and Custard Milk last year, and more recently  Unicorn Themed Ice Creams . As well as those they've also launched this new limited edition Truly Irresistible Dark Chocolate with Raspberry, a Single Origin Fairtrade bar. Containing 54% cocoa solids and described as "rich and fruity with sweet raspberry pieces, made with carefully selected Peruvian cocoa" it contains 2% freeze dried raspberries and costs just over £1.50. Opening the sleeve the chocolate was foil-wrapped, which is always a good thing in my book! The blocks looked smooth and glossy with The Co Op's Truly Irresistble logo printed on each piece. Snapping a piece off, the freeze dried raspberries were very evident embedded in the chocolate, and certainly looked more plentiful than the 2% listed in the ingredients. Turning the block over they were very visible on the underside of the bar, too; so ...

Ombar Centres Raspberry & Coconut Raw Bar

Image
I do love Ombar chocolates, if you can’t tell by now from my previous reviews of their bars! Not only are they dairy free and vegan they’re also made with “raw” cacao which is quite a rarity amongst chocolates. This gives them a sharper more authentic cocoa flavour, although it may not be to all tastes I personally rather enjoy it. I’ve been keen to try this Ombar Centres Raspberry for ages now, I've seen it in shops locally but kept umming and ahhing over whether to buy it. Luckily I was offered some of the range along with the new Karma Bites snacks to review recently so I couldn't say no to that! Weighing 35g this usually costs around £1.99. It’s a lot , but bear in mind this is high quality organic raw cacao made by a small company. It’s worth the price, and nicer than other raw chocolate bars on the market. The bar contains a centre of coconut cream and raspberry powder and is coated in 60% cocoa chocolate. I cut a piece off the bar so you can see the centre - lo...

Marks & Spencer White Chocolate, Raspberry & Matcha Bar

Image
Whilst buying the delicious Swiss Blond Chocolate bar from M&S recently I thought I'd also try one of their new smaller "treat" bars with "healthy" additions. I went for this White Chocolate with Matcha tea and raspberry added because it sounded pretty unusual if not delicious. It's in the same range as the Latte Coffee Kick and Turmeric Coconut treat bars and costs 60p for 25g. Described as a "matcha green tea flavoured white chocolate bar with freeze-dried raspberries" it's split it into two chunks - one for the AM and one for the PM. Really, M&S?! This may not be just any chocolate, but I certainly ain't saving half for later! The dried raspberries were clearly visible on the underside of the bar. I can't say it looked all that appetizing to be honest. Starting with the AM square (it was actually in the PM - so I had a good excuse to eat both pieces!) I took a bite, and thankfully it tasted a lot better than it loo...

Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer Original & Scottish Raspberry

Image
A big thankyou to Crabbie's for providing me with these bottles of alcoholic gluten free ginger beer for todays review, they were very much appreciated! What with the hot, changeable weather recently it's always nice to have something refreshing on hand to cool down with, especially when it's alcoholic. Crabbie's have been going since the 1800's when Scottish pioneer John Crabbie started creating drinks from steeped ginger and exotic spices from the far east. For more info on their history, do check out Crabbie's website: www.crabbiesgingerbeer.co.uk. The Original variety is made to Crabbie's "unique steeped ginger recipe" and contains 4% alcohol. I chilled it in the freezer, before pouring into a glass to drink ice cold. It was lovely; super refreshing, spicy and fiery with a lovely ginger warmth. The low amount of alcohol was just right, enough to make you feel a slight merriness but not keel over. Great for a summers day! 8.5 out of 10...

Haagen Dazs Mango & Raspberry Ice Cream

Image
It's British Summertime, and in in true fashion we're having heatwaves followed by downpours...so what better way to cool off than with ice cream, right? Today's review is one I've had in the archives a while, I bought a box of Haagen Dazs Fruit Collection way back when mainly to try the Blueberry and Cream variety, but it also contained this tub that I've never tried before, Mango & Raspberry. I was disappointed with the white chocolate Mango & Raspberry sticks so how does this variety compare? Thankfully it's s lot, lot nicer! Like the other pots from The Fruit Collection this comes with it's own individual spoon - so handy for picnics! The pot consists of mango ice cream with swirls of raspberry sauce mixed in, and is the perfect creamy and fruity combination. The flavours complement each other well, with the sauce bringing nice bursts of tart raspberry to the sweeter mango ice cream. Overall, this is a great flavour from Haagen ...

Tesco White Chocolate & Raspberry Ice Creams

Image
Ice cream season is slowly creeping up on us, and there's a never ending variety of new lollies, sticks and tubs appearing in shops recently. Some have been disappointing, but Tesco have bucked the trend with these rather tasty White Chocolate & Raspberry ice creams, which are essentially a Magnum Double. Described as "Vanilla dairy ice cream, covered with raspberry sauce, coated in Belgian white chocolate with freeze dried raspberry pieces", they're suitable for vegeterians and cost £1.50 for a pack of three. The white chocolate shell is creamy and sweet, with the raspberry sauce oozing out just below it. It's the perfect contrast of creamy and zingy flavours. The raspberry pieces further add to the flavour, and combined with the ice cream make for a pretty delightful treat! I actually enjoyed these a lot more than some of the other ice creams I've tried recently, including the Haagen Dazs Mango & Raspberry sticks and the Magnum Doubles....

Haagen Dazs Mango & Raspberry White Chocolate Ice Cream Bars

Image
Haagen Dazs have recently launched a new range of Ice Cream sticks into multi-packs, including Salted Caramel Milk , Vanilla Caramel Almond , White Chocolate & Almond , and this variety - Mango & Raspberry which is only exclusive to Tesco stores. As much as I want to try the whole range they're a little pricey so I went for just this one. No doubt I'll try the others in the future, although I've already reviewed the Vanilla Almonds Stick last year, which seems a tad different to the new Caramel variety. These cost £3.50 per three pack and are described as "Mango ice cream with raspberry swirl and Belgian white chocolate with sweetened raspberry pieces". They don't state if they're suitable for vegetarians unfortunately, however they contain no gluten ingredients. The sticks have a nice curved shape, but did look a tad on the small side. Although all ice cream sticks are shrinking now so I suppose these are pretty similar in size to a ...

Magnum Double Raspberry Ice Creams

Image
It wouldn't be January without several new ice creams to tempt us away from our New Year diet resolutions, now would it? Yes, not content with a new range of Magnum Ice Cream Tubs (the white chocolate one is particularly amazing!), they've also brought out a new Magnum Double Coconut and Double Raspberry. The Double Coconut was a bit of a letdown for me, so how does the Raspberry aka "Lampone" or "Frambuesa" compare? Described as "Raspberry ice cream with a chocolate flavour coating, raspberry sauce and milk chocolate", these are currently £3 at Tesco, and are suitable for vegetarians as well as gluten free. Well, these surprised me as I found them a lot nicer than the Double Coconut variety! Biting into one, the raspberry sauce oozes out immediately, giving way to the pink raspberry ice cream below... The combination of flavours is spot on; the raspberry ice cream is subtle and tangy, with the sauce enhancing it and adding some gooey...

Nakd Posh Bits: Cocoa Raspberry Review

Image
Following on from my review of Nakd Posh Bits: Cocoa Mandarin flavour , today we have the Cocoa Raspberry version. I saw these in Sainsbury's Freefrom section, but strangely they didn't have the Cocoa Sea Salt variety...boo!  Like all Nakd products, these are of course raw, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free and refined sugar free. I've added a pic of the ingredients list above so you can see what's in there...pretty standard Nakd stuff really. What isn't standard about these Posh Bits though are the shapes...they come in hearts, diamonds and domes. Which is certainly more interesting and fun than some "clean food" products...naming no names *cough* Deliciously Ella's Energy Balls! *cough*. These had a nice earthy, cocoa aroma with a hint of tangy raspberry. You can see the flecks of raspberry embedded within the Bits too. They tasted lovely; a pleasant cocoa flavour with the perfect texture from the nuts and dates - not too soft or...
