Betty Bakes Toffee Crisp Gluten Free Slice

Image
Whilst on a long train trip recently I needed a decent snack to keep me going. As well as a huge bag of Pick & Mix, I got one of these Betty Bakes Toffee Crisp slices from the Ikea cafe. It's a similar concept to Millionaire's Shortbread but with a base layer of crisped rice and chocolate instead. Above this sits a layer of buttery toffee, topped off with milk chocolate. The combination of all three is of course very, very delicious! The toffee layer is very buttery and great quality, giving a really luxurious feel to the bar. The chocolate is delicious and finishes everything off perfectly. Overall, this is a tasty snack whether you are gluten free or not, and I hope to see Betty Bakes slices become more widely available! RATING: 8.5 out of 10.

Nestlé Toffee Crisp Honeycomb (Limited Edition)

Nestlé UK recently announced the launch of a Honeycomb Toffee Crisp for a limited period, and by chance I just so happened to spot them on the same day in a local Premier store. They're currently on offer of 2 for £1 alongside regular Toffee Crisps. The bar weighs 38g which doesn't seem a lot - I'm not sure how much a regular Toffee Crisp weighs these days but it seems pretty light to me. The description reads "Toffee (18%), honeycomb pieces (4%) and crisped cereal (6%) filled milk chocolate". Opening the wrapper there was a very pleasant, sweet honeycomb aroma, although the bar did look a bit thinner to how I remember Toffee Crisp. Cutting it open revealed the caramel, honeycomb and rice crisps: Biting into a piece gave a nice crunch of golden honeycomb, offset by the chewy caramel and crispy rice bits. It all tasted very sweet and sickly, but very crunchy and delicious! The texture of the honeycomb made it a lot crunchier than a regular Toffee Cri...

Some new products I've seen whilst out and about recently...enjoy! Swizzel's Matlow Drumstick Cake: Everyone of a certain age will remember Drumstick Lollies from childhood...and now you can get them in cake form! This cake contains a Drumstick flavoured topping and filling, and is of course shaped and iced like a Drumstick lolly. Spotted at Asda. Asda's Triple Chocolate Giant Doughnut Cake : I don't think this made from real doughnut, but it looks like a pretty cool cake! There's also a Toffee Fudge variety! Mars Cake Bars : If it weren't for the recent news articles raving about these I would've never guessed they were new...I thought Mars had always done cake bars?! Spotted at Asda. Asda Jazzie Mini Cake Bites : Continuing with the retro sweets theme Asda are doing these new "Jazzie" cake bites. If you don't know what Jazzie's are, they're basically a British retro sweet made up of vegetable fat with h...
