Solero Organic Peach Lollies with a juicy filling

Image
Tesco are currently busy launching a raft of new ice cream products into their stores, and there's many gems among them - see this Instagram post of mine for a few as well as my Skittles Ice Creams review. There's also a new Haagen Dazs Brownie Macchiato , Ben and Jerry's Coconutterly Caramel Vegan Ice Cream, Low Fat Ben & Jerry's Moophoria tubs as well as new Halo Top lollies (which everyone is going crazy for)! I thought I'd try something a bit simpler to review, possibly healthier and also...vegan! Yes, the Solero brand has done something quite revolutionary and removed the dairy ice cream centre of a Solero, and replaced it with a soft juicy filling for these Peach Lollies. The ingredients are a simple mix of sugar, water, peach juice, peach, peach puree, lemon juice, pectin and other natural flavourings, as well as apple juice. Very fruity! The ingredients are also made by organic agriculture, which is always nice to know. Each stick has 60 calori...

Feast Peanut Butter Snack Bar

Image
Recently, Wall's launched two new peanut butter flavoured ice creams. One was the tasty Magnum Double Peanut Butter, and the other was this Feast Snack Bar. Strangely, this doesn't state on the front of the pack that it has anything to do with peanut butter, but the back describes these ice creams as "Peanut butter flavour ice cream with caramel sauce, milk chocolate flavour coating and peanut pieces". I haven't eaten a Feast in years because they contain gluten, but these are different from a regular Feast as they don't contain the solid chocolate centre, and thus are gluten free. While I'm glad about that, I couldn't help thinking "what makes them a Feast without the solid centre?!" Still, I had to try them in the name of Snacks Science... I can't say they were that great to be honest. The ice cream has a vague peanutty flavour, but not particularly strong and it's a stretch to call it peanut butter. The caramel sauce...

Solero Mojito Ice Lollies with Rum (Adults Only!) Review

Image
Amongst the Summer ice creams in Morrisons recently I spotted these new Mojito Solero's with Rum. I was excited to try them thanks to the promised rum flavour as it's not something you often see in an ice lolly. The box had "Adults Only" written on it which of course meant I had to show ID when buying them (nanny state that we're living in!), but at least I can take comfort in thinking I look younger than my age! I couldn't wait to try the lollies as it was a hot day, and they looked enticingly refreshing on the box. I was imagining a cool, refreshing lime and rum combination. They're described as "Mojito flavour lemon lime water ice with rum and a mint flavour lemon lime core". Unfortunately when I opened the wrapper I could tell they wouldn't be as nice as anticipated. They had a rather weak lime aroma and didn't look all that exciting. Taking a bite, all I could really taste was a slightly tangy, watery lime flavour...with ...

Wall's Funny Feet Ice Creams are back from the 80's! - Review

Image
I've been on the lookout for Wall's Funny Feet Ice Creams for a while now. The Grocer ran a competition to "Bring back a brand" earlier in the year which included nostalgic products such as Trio biscuits, Nestlé Toffo, Cabana, Texan, Cresta lemonade, Spangles sweets, Fish & Chips crisps and Funny Feet. Funny Feet were the most popular, receiving almost 6,500 votes and so Wall's have decided to relaunch the ice creams in the UK. See the article HERE with The Grocer which explains how this all came about. There's also a Youtube video about the campaign here: According to Wall's they will be marketed towards children and their parents who remember them from the 80's, and 10p from every purchase will be donated to Save The Children with the "Share a Smile, Help a Child" campaign. 80's advert for Funny Feet Considering their apparent popularity in the 80's, and the fact that Wall's saw fit to bring them back again I ...
