M&M's Biscuits Review

Image
A while back I reviewed these M&M's Biscuits over on Instagram - they were a German import - and now they're avaialable in the UK from Tesco!  They're classic crunchy biscuits with a chocolate topping and mini M&M's on top - a simple combination, but one that's very fun and tasty! The biscuits have a good wheaty taste, quality milk chocolate and the M&M's add some crunch. Lovely! If this sounds like your thing check them out at Tesco now - they're a bit pricey at £2.50 but will very likely be on special offer at some point soon.  Apologies for the briefer review - I've been busy over on my Instagram and new Facebook page (follow here:  https://www.facebook.com/snacksnews ) which has eaten up most of my spare time. For those still reading this blog - thankyou, it's much appreciated!

M&Ms Crunchy Caramel Bar

Image
Last year we got several new M&M bars launched in the U.K. and this year they have gone and blessed us with another; a Crunchy Caramel Bar, and not only that they have also brought back Crunchy Caramel M&Ms! I really enjoy the M&M bars as the chocolate is great tasting and the additions plentiful, so this new one was very welcome. I was kindly #gifted a sample bar from Mars PR. This bar includes mini M&Ms and crunchy caramel pieces mixed into the bar and it’s a great combo! There’s the creamy milk chocolate, which is almost like Galaxy and the crunchy mini M&Ms and plentiful crunchy caramel. It’s very crunchy and tasty and brings a nice mix of everything. It’s maybe a stretch to theme it on M&Ms but the M&Ms character on the block looks super cool so I’ll let them off with that! Overall, another delicious addition to the range which should be available in Tesco stores very soon. Let me know if you try these!

M&Ms Peanut Milk Chocolate Bar

Image
Recently, Mars UK launched their M&M's bars range as well as Salted Caramel M&M's - what a treat! They're finally giving us more interesting products than they have in previous years. And these bad boys are extremely tasty; in fact I think I liked them more than regular M&Ms for a few reasons. Today's review is for the US version I got from A Taste Of The States - which I presume is the same as the UK one. Look at the block design - isn't it cool! The milk chocolate is smooth and has mini chocolate M&M's and peanuts embedded within, and the M logo on each block plus the M&M character smirking at you! The bar doesn't contain actual Peanut M&M's unfortunately, as I imagine they'd be a bit too big to cram into the block and still have it look all glossy. Instead it has milk chocolate mini M&M's plus roasted peanuts. The chocolate tastes pretty good quality, it's smooth and with a good cocoa flavour,...

Salted Caramel M&M’s Review

Image
For once, it seems that Mars UK are giving British consumers a new M&M's variety we actually want (since they're denying us lovely treats such as White Chocolate M&M's, Peanut Butter Snickers, White Chocolate Galaxy and more - boo!) They've gone and replaced last years Crunchy Caramel M&M's with a Salted Caramel variety, which is very wise and does beg the question: why didn't they do this, like, 5 years ago when the salted caramel trend was at its peak? I guess things move slowly in the confectionery labs! (coming in three years time - Unicorn M&M's!) They've taken the smart step of using a chewy caramel in these, much like the Caramel M&M's available in the US, but with a salty twist. And they're honestly delicious! Better than the US variety, which although were good were not exactly what they'd been hyped up to be. The shells are classic colourful M&M's, with the chocolate being a little richer than ...

Tropical M&M's Limited Edition (Australia)

Image
Today's review is rather special, because M&M's are one of those products that when they do a new flavour...well, it's always an occasion! And these ones are all the way from Australia - I was kindly sent a pack to try as part of a snacks haul recently, and am ever so greatful. It seems that Australia are getting many different varieties of M&M's recently - from these to Hot Cross Bun and now they're even getting Strawberries & Cream too! WHY do we never get such flavours in the UK? It's a travesty! Moving on, these M&Ms come in three colours and flavours, they're green, white and yellow with the white being coconut flavoured, the yellow being pineapple and the green? I'm not sure actually - it was rather difficult to detect. Apparently according to Twitter it's regular milk chocolate. They certainly have a strong pina colada type aroma, and the wrapper suggests this also. I tried them all individually before mixing them to...

M&M's White Cheesecake Valentines Edition

Image
Valentines Day is just around the corner, and to celebrate it (early) I thought I'd treat myself to a bag of these White Cheesecake M&M's, which are available on various sites like Amazon, but I bought them off ebay as it was a few pound cheaper. Gotta love yourself! In true Valentine's fashion I poured them onto this heart-shaped dish that is a pretty reasonable £1 from Poundland. There's no description on the pack apart from "white cheesecake artificial flavours"...you gotta love how they're not ashamed to admit it! They come in white, beige and pink colours - pretty fitting for Valentines! They have a nice milky and slightly cheesecakey aroma. I'm sure the shells are a little different to UK M&M's, they don't seem quite as shiny or glossy, although maybe this is a change just for the Valentines edition. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I am happy to say these did not let me down one bit - they are every bit as swe...

M&M's Chocolate Mini Eggs Review

Image
Easter is a while off yet, but you wouldn't think it to look in most supermarkets. I've lost count of how many times I've heard people say "Easter stuff already?!!" in the Tesco Seasonal aisle! If only they knew that a lot of it was already out even before Christmas... One of the newbies I did pick up before Christmas were these M&M's Mini Eggs, a new addition to the Mini Eggs world, king of which is of course Cadbury Mini Eggs, followed by Orange Smarties and Milkybar Mini Eggs (in my opinion anyway). How would these compare to the greats? You can find these for around £1 in most stores, and there's larger "egg hunt" bags of them in Tesco for £3.50, plus small packets, and there's even a version with a hollow egg. Opening the bag they certainly looked the part - the shells have a nice pastel colour and actually looked better than Cadbury Mini Eggs. Sadly they're a bit disappointing. The chocolate tastes pretty non-...

The new snacks just keep on coming this year, and it's still only January! By now I imagine many who follow me will have fallen off their "New Year, New You" plans? Yes? If so read on... It's called "Love is..." and features Buttery brown sugar ice cream, salted caramel cups with a pink coloured coating, cookie swirl, a pink topping and pink hearts. And how amazing does it look?! Never mind your Valentine...you gotta love yourself before anyone else! (aka buy and eat one of these to yourself haha). This one will be music to the ears of anyone Lactose Intolerant or Vegan - Ben & Jerry's have launched a new Coconutterly Caramel'd Non Dairy Ice Cream. This will feature non dairy coconut flavoured ice cream, caramel and cookie swirls and chocolatey chunks. Available now (although I am yet to sp...

New M&M's Cake Bars Review

Image
I was recently contacted about a new super secret product, that would be sent to me on the launch day without knowing what it might be. Of course, I was super intrigued! Imagine my surprise when a MASSIVE Skittles Cake and a few packs of M&M's Cake bars turned up! Now unfortunately DPD messed up the Skittles Cake in typical fashion - it ended up squashed - but luckily these M&M's Cake Bars were fine - hurrah! The packs contain 5 individually wrapped bars that are a pretty standard affair, with a layer of soft sponge on the bottom, a layer of cream on top and all coated in milk chocolate. The surprise? The cream layer contains pieces of mini M&M's! Opening the wrapper the cakes smelled delicious, with a malty chocolate aroma. I cut a piece off, expecting to see M&M's...where were they? I cut more pieces off and still couldn't see any, so eventually ended up dissecting the whole cake bar to find some. They had to be in there, surely?! Lu...

Crunchy Caramel M&M's Limited Edition UK

Image
Without warning, Mars UK have only gone and launched Limited Edition Crunchy Caramel M&M's upon the nation! Yes, these fantastic new treats are out now and available from Poundland in 109g bags. Naturally I had to pick a bag (or two!) up for sampling and reviewing purposes. They're described as "Milk Chocolate (51%) with a caramel center (21%) in a sugar shell". I tipped the bag out onto a fancy plate as soon as I got home...the M&M's looked somewhat like balls on a pool table. I believe caramel M&M's are an absolute first for the UK, although other countries have done the combination already. America are even lucky enough to get chewy caramel M&M 's! But this is the UK and we're lucky to get any new M&M flavour, so we mustn't grumble too much. How do they taste then I hear you ask?! Well, the caramel is a bit like toffee brittle or the innards of a Daim bar, with a buttery flavour that is delicious! I was seriously...

Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo Sandwich, Oreo Bites, M&M's Crispy Spread etc (Spotted In Shops)

Image
A handful of new products from Mondelez (always Mondelez!) and Mars have appeared in shops this week...so I thought I would honor the occasion with a quick Spotted In Shops post. Enjoy! First up, these Oreo Bites that are currently available in Asda. Bite size chocolates filled with Cream and Oreo pieces, these are similar to Dairy Milk Oreo bars although aren't labelled as Dairy Milk - presumably so Mondelez can use their cheaper milk chocolate on them. Also new is this Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo Sandwich bar : It contains a layer of milk chocolate in the middle, with cream filling on each segment and an Oreo cookie piece above. It's similar to the Dairy Milk with Ritz and LU bars they did a few years back. Currently it seems to be an Asda exclusive although I'm sure will be available in other shops shortly. Also new at Asda is this M&M's Crispy Spread : Basically chocolate spread with crispy M&M's thrown in. Not particularly imaginative but I...

M&M's Peanut & Hazelnut Limited Edition (UK)

Image
What have we here, a new variety of M&M's that is actually a UK exclusive for once? You're spoiling us, Mars! After all we have been deprived of the Peanut Butter M&M's for what seems like forever now, import stores notwithstanding. Yes, Mars are gracing us with this new Peanut and Hazelnut Limited Edition which can be found in Poundland, and no doubt other stores to follow soon. Described as "an assortment of milk chocolate with peanut and hazelnut in a sugar shell", these come in 128g bags. The M&M's are different sizes and it was hard to tell which were hazelnut and peanut, because despite the wider ones looking like hazelnuts - some weren't! I ate a few of the fatter ones and was met with the regular peanut variety...so disappointing! Eventually I found a hazelnut one - at last, what I've been waiting for all this time! It tasted good, very good in fact, and was every bit as nice as you can imagine a hazelnut M&M to be. ...
