Ilchester Light Cheese Selection

Image
Low fat high protein products are all the rage right now, and to that end Ilchester (makers of that famous Cheese Advent Calendar!) have brought out a Light Cheese Selection net, with 30% less fat and 66 calories per serving. There's three individually wrapped snack sized portions of Creamy Ilchester Light Cheese, Smoky Applewood Light Cheese and Fiery Mexicana Light Cheese in the net. They're available from Morrisons, Waitrose and Asda stores.  From the press release: “Perfect for popping in the office fridge, just grab a delicious morsel when an afternoon pick me up is needed, satisfying those pre dinner hunger pangs, or even pairing with a picnic, the Ilchester Light snacking Net is great for any snacking occasion - grab an apple and cheesy portion and steer clear of the treat cupboard”. From Left to Right: Creamy Light, Smoky Applewood and Fiery Mexicana. Starting with the creamy light, this is a soft mild cheese that is pretty much as described - creamy and light ...

Ape Vegan Cheese Coconut & Rice Puffs

Image
A big thankyou to Ape Snacks for today's review, they kindly reached out and offered me some samples from their new range of Coconut & Rice Puffs to try, and as a big fan of their snacks I certainly wasn't going to say no! The last new product they launched were the Chocolate Crunchy Coconut Bites I reviewed over Summer, but I had no idea they had plans to further expand their range. So it was a lovely surprise to see these new Coconut & Rice puffs appear recently! They're like a healthy, vegan, gluten free version of puffed maize snacks without added sugar, vegetable oils, dairy or artificial flavourings - just clean ingredients! You can buy them from Ape Snacks website , plus they're available from Sainsbury's, Ocado.com and WH Smiths. I thought I'd start with the Cheese Flavour, which is special because it's actually dairy free and vegan friendly! How is that possible I hear you ask?! Well, like many cheesy flavoured crisps it uses yeast extr...

Tesco's New Frozen Toasties: the height of laziness?

Image
Whilst perusing the new products in Tesco recently I came across something that made me stop in my tracks. "Really?!" I thought...people are really lazy enough to buy a FROZEN Toasted Sandwich?" It's not like they are that hard to slap together especially if you have a Toastie Maker. The frozen delights come in classic Toastie flavours like Cheese & Ham, Tuna & Sweetcorn, BBQ Chicken, and Cheese Tomato & Spinach. The latter even comes with wholemeal bread...mmm healthy frozen Toastie! I imagine this range may be popular with students, although I reckon they'd opt for something shop-bought over these - too much effort! Have you tried the new frozen Toasties from Tesco? Are they actually any good? Let me know in the comments!

Tesco Finest Creamy Brie & Cranberry Crisps

Image
Tesco have quite a track record for unusual crisp flavours at Christmas. Last year they did the tasty Cocoa & Spiced Rum Crisps , this year the weird Candy Cane Crisps , and amongst the seasonal range I spotted this relatively more-normal-but-still-novel flavour, Creamy Brie and Cranberry. I wasn't sure about berries mixed with cheese as a crisp flavour so I went with my curiosity... For £1 a bag these are described simply as "Brie and cranberry flavour crinkle cut potato crisps". Opening the bag they certainly had a super strong cheesy aroma. They tasted super cheesy indeed, as you would expect from brie flavoured crisps! It was quite overpowering - these definitely aren't for the faint of heart and are clearly only for those who truly love their cheese. The cranberry flavor adds a slight sour tartness, it's subtle but you can (just) taste it amongst all the cheese. Overall, these are some cheesy crisps indeed, and I imagine you'll either love...

Kettle Chips Baked Camembert & Oak Smoked Garlic

Image
Recently I was sent some of the new Limited Edition Kettle Chips Baked Camembert & Oak Smoked Garlic to review, which is certainly the welcoming sight at the end of a long, cold day! I have to be honest, Camembert is not a cheese I've tried before, so I had no idea what to expect from these. The crisps also came with a Camembert cheese dish, which isn't particularly edible so I won't be reviewing that...I'm sure it will come in handy though! The crisps have been launched for the Winter season and are the brainchild of Kettle Chips chef Phil Hovey, who says: "I chose this winning combination which has been enjoyed during Winter nights for years - rich and gooey, creamy French Camembert enhanced by the tantalizing depth of oak smoked garlic". I have to say, I think Phil is right to choose this flavour; these are some delicious crisps! They're pretty full on with a strong yet creamy cheese flavour, and every crisp is generously coated. I couldn...
