Artisan Du Chocolat Magic Wands Review

Many thanks to Artisan Du Chocolat for sending me some of their "magic wands" chocolates to review recently. I was absolutely amazed by the gorgeous box they came in; it looks spectacular, one of the nicest boxes of chocolates I've ever seen in fact!

I wasn't sure what the "wands" were all about at first, I thought it was just another name for chocolate sticks like Matchmakers, but it turns out these are a lot more sophisticated than that! They contain different flavoured ganaches encased in high quality chocolate, and can be combined to create entirely new flavours...as if by magic!

The individual flavours are banana, pineapple, vanilla, strawberry, pear, raspberry, cinnamon and lemon. They can be combined to create these new flavours: vanilla & cinnamon = cola, raspberry & pear = apple, strawberry & vanilla = marshmallow, and raspberry & banana = bubble gum.

At first I thought this might be a bit of a gimmick, but combining the wands did actually transform them into totally new flavours. Magic indeed!

The quality of the chocolate was exceptional; the white chocolate tasted creamy and melt-in-the-mouth, the milk chocolate was also creamy but with a rich cocoa flavour, whilst the dark chocolate was rich and flavoursome without any bitterness.

Individually the wands tasted delicious, but I was more interested in the new flavours they would become!

The lemon and cinnamon "cola" combination was subtle, warming and slightly tangy, giving a nostalgic and fairly realistic cola flavour. "Marshamallow" was also very subtle, providing a comforting and realistic marshmallow flavour. "Bubblegum" was the most interesting  - it definitely had a familiar fruity bubblegum flavour, which was a bit odd combined with chocolate but it somehow worked!

Overall, I have to say these Magic Wands from Artisan Du Chocolat are truly fantastic - excellent quality, interesting flavours, beautifully presented, and most importantly fun. They're perfect for sharing with family at Christmas and would make a fantastic Christmas gift; forget Matchmakers and try these instead!

RATING: 9 out of 10.
