Aldi don't make anything themselves, they simply go to manufacturers and do deals with them to re-brand their own chocolates into Aldi branded chocolates. Sometimes though if it's a hugely successful brand name item that say Nestle or Cadbury want to protect for themselves, they'll make something very similar under Aldi's name and change it ever so slightly.

Here in Australia we recently got excited for Darrel Lea, a very old and long running confectionery company who specialise in licorice and Rocky Road etc, because they got to supply Aldi with a peanut covered confectionery lolly called Peanut Munchies which are basically like a peanut M&M....now Darrell Lea proudly make there's here in Australia which is fantastic so Aldi got them on the shelf, starting selling them on mass and then did there slippery dodgy backhanded slinky deal by going back to a confectionery manufacturer in Germany and get them now to make the same thing in Germany cheaper than having them made in Australia.

This is what pisses me off no end because what a lot of people may not realise is a company like Darrell Lea or Cadbury or whoever spend a lot of money have labels designed and printed for Aldi's own brand and then slot into their production line to produce the product and wrap all the Aldi packaging around the end finished product but then they get shit canned on by the supermarkets. When they do all that investment they expect a decent return on the outlay.
So then when companies like Aldi revert back to another supplier in their homeland Germany to make it cheaper but still sell it under their now well established product line, it's a kick in the guts to the original supplier.

Repco Auto Parts did this years ago with "Ryco" - a company who specialise in automotive oil, fuel and air filters. They used to make everything here in Australia so Repco got Ryco to make and market filters under their own Repco company colours and then once they got well established in the market place because they were the same high quality Aussie made filter in a Repco box that were significantly cheaper, they then snuck off shore to China and had the same now hugely successful Repco filter products made cheap there in China instead. It cost Ryco hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the Repco branded filters on the shelves and into mechanics workshops etc and then Repco take a huge steaming dump on Ryco.........It is so wrong !
I asked Aldi recently who makes their peanut munchies now and they will not tell me - at all ! They say they're protecting their supplier confidentiality which is bullshit ! We as the paying consumer have the right to choose what products we spend our hard earned dollars on so if I choose not to buy a bag of confectionery because of my moral stance on that particular company brand, then I should be able to do this with confidence at Aldi too.
They are nothing but greedy arrogant slippery protective scumbags and I won't shop there any more based on their bullshit !!!
Pricks they are !!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2121839347151866724.post-19194586148379935212017-04-19T12:52:17.106-07:002017-04-19T12:52:17.106-07:00Yes I think they cheapened the ingredients or some...Yes I think they cheapened the ingredients or something :( Such a shame.
